Improving Laboratory Efficiency
Increasing Laboratory Productivity
Roche announced a new addition to its cobas® connection modules (CCM) that will enable CCM Vertical to transport samples on overhead conveyors.* This solution allows CCM conveyors to traverse cross walkways, connect different work areas to one another, and keep (emergency) exits accessible. Samples can also be transported up or down at different levels.
Given the continuously evolving needs of healthcare systems, demand for automation continues to rise due to shortages of qualified personnel, increasing workload demands, and the need for faster results and fewer errors. Additionally, space limitations in laboratories present a significant obstacle, and it can be difficult to increase test capacity.
Ann Costello, President of Roche Diagnostics Solutions, said: "Given the dynamic requirements of healthcare systems, laboratories and clinicians are expected to optimize laboratory operations and productivity while improving patient care. We are excited about CCM Vertical, which simplifies and facilitates testing for laboratories of every size, throughput, and discipline while supporting clinical decision-making to improve patient care."
CCM Vertical can overcome these challenges by creating a modular and flexible vertical transport solution consisting of elevator units, overhead conveyors, and overhead turn units. Like the CCM horizontal line, it integrates seamlessly into the existing CCM solution without compromising on quality, reliability, and performance.
CCM Vertical enables multi-disciplinary connection via floors and ceilings, making floor-to-floor transport possible. Space limitations in laboratories where previously no suitable solution could be found will now be effectively addressed through multi-disciplinary connections across multiple floors and rooms.
