Sartorius Expands Global Capacity

Sartorius expands global capacity with opening of extended facility in Tunisia. Sartorius, a leading international solutions partner for life sciences research and the biopharmaceutical industry, is further expanding its global production capacity through the expansion of its manufacturing site in Tunisia. The Germany-based company has invested more than EUR 20 million in a new 10,000-square-metre building and associated operating equipment at the existing M'Hamdia location to increase production of its liquid handling technologies. The expansion includes adjacent warehouse and logistics facilities along with a total of 2,400 square metres of clean rooms. Sartorius currently has approximately 800 employees at M'Hamdia and expects to increase headcount at the site in the future. The opening ceremony was attended by Ben Arous Governor Ezzedine Chelbi, Deputy Head of Mission Georg Felsheim of the German Embassy in Tunisia, and representatives from the Ministry of Industry. René Fáber, Board Member of Sartorius's Bioprocess Solutions division, said on the occasion of the official opening of the new building: "We are investing significantly in expanding our capacity worldwide to meet the continued high demand from the biopharmaceutical industry. The state-of-the-art liquid handling facility in M'Hamdia not only supports this approach but also demonstrates our long-term commitment to Tunisia." Mohamed Yassine Bouagila, General Manager and Head of Operations at Sartorius Tunisia, said: "I am proud of the timely and high-quality completion of this project. The dedication and cooperation of the M'Hamdia teams have been tremendous, and I truly look forward to further developing the new expansion together. This increase in capacity will strengthen our importance within the Sartorius production network." The facility in Tunisia has been operating since 2001. In 2019, Sartorius established Sartorius Academy Tunisia, a training centre designed to develop the skills of its employees, particularly those newly joining the factory. Source
