Kimpur, a leading polyurethane sector company, shared its first sustainability report aligned with Turkey's Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS) with the public. Published in the first year TSRS became mandatory, the report demonstrates the company's commitment to advancing transparency and accountability in sustainability.
Since 2020, Kimpur has regularly reported its sustainability performance and has been progressing toward integrated reporting format over the past three years, maintaining transparent communication. As of this year, the company published its first report in full compliance with TSRS criteria, presenting a model practice for the sector.
Report Demonstrates Preparedness Against Climate Risks
Through its report, Kimpur aims to ensure legal compliance, maintain transparent communication with stakeholders, and respond to growing expectations regarding climate change. The report details the company's sustainability strategy, awareness of climate risks, measures taken against these risks, and action plans for the future.
Within the scope of the report, four key climate risks were prioritized in line with SASB standards and sector trends. These risks were analyzed using RCP scenarios defined within the framework of IPCC's Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports. Identified risks include carbon taxes under the European Union's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), cost fluctuations from fossil fuel-based energy consumption, extreme weather events that could affect Far East ports, and rising amounts of hazardous waste linked to increased production volumes.
Scenario and financial impact analyses conducted showed that the aforementioned risks do not pose a threat to the company's operational continuity or financial structure.
"Will Be a Resource to Guide the Sector"
Cavidan Karaca, CEO of Kimpur, commented on the published report as follows:
"At a time when the effects of climate change are increasingly pronounced, we are working to develop a sustainability approach that serves as a guide not only for our company but for our entire sector. Our TSRS-compliant report transparently presents how we analyze climate-related risks and the resilience strategy we have developed against these risks. We believe this report will guide all stakeholders in the sector and create shared awareness against climate risks."
Karaca noted that the Integrated Report prepared in accordance with GRI standards will also be shared soon, stating, "In this way, we will have achieved comprehensive sustainability communication that responds to both national regulations and international reporting standards."
