Masdaf Presents Advanced Pump Solutions
Masdaf shared engineering calculations and advanced pump solutions that will reduce costs in agricultural irrigation stemming from both energy and water resources as well as operational and system failures.
With 30.8 percent of Turkey's 769.6 million decares of land area composed of agricultural fields, the country ranks 1st in Europe and 10th globally in agricultural output.
To advance this potential further and meet the food needs of a rapidly growing population, the use of smart technologies that will increase agricultural production and productivity is of great importance.
Drip irrigation systems and smart pump technologies, which are widely used in modern agriculture, are among the leading technologies that increase agricultural production and productivity.
Masdaf offers solutions that will increase productivity in agriculture through specially designed pumps it has developed to efficiently pressurize water in agricultural lands and greenhouse areas.
Masdaf Sales Manager Cem Hanedanoğlu, noting that correct pump selection in agricultural irrigation can provide maximum efficiency per unit area and energy savings in the range of 20 to 25 percent, made the following remarks on the subject:
"Agricultural irrigation areas require large amounts of water and high flow rates. When selecting pump systems to properly pressurize water; attention must be paid to the temperature of the water being pumped, its specific gravity, its cleanliness, the pumping flow rate, and the geometry of the system. Additionally, accessibility to the water source, suction conditions and the location where the facility will be installed are among the matters that should be considered when selecting the system. At this point, our primary criterion is the distance of the agricultural land to the water source. For example, if there are permanent water sources such as ponds, dams, rivers, lakes and streams near the land; we provide water supply with end-suction or split dual-suction horizontal centrifugal pumps, high-pressure horizontal or vertical multistage centrifugal pumps or self-priming pumps at suitable flow and pressure values depending on the condition of the land and the piping system. For the irrigation of small lands where electricity cannot be supplied, we mainly recommend self-priming mobile units that operate with diesel or gasoline engines. Pump system selection carried out taking into account all engineering calculations enables the farmer to save costs from both energy and water resources as well as operational and system failures. Approximately 75 percent of Turkey's exploitable groundwater potential is used for agricultural irrigation purposes. With around 450 deep well sources used for irrigation purposes, approximately 1,316,794 hectares, or about 26 percent of the total irrigated area, is irrigated. For agricultural irrigation to be carried out with groundwater, deep well pumps are used. As Masdaf, we recommend to our farmers "BRX series Deep Well Pumps" for extracting groundwater from the ground or water lines. Deep well pumps, which provide great convenience and comfort in operation, require no maintenance, do not cause noise and vibration as they operate underwater, and thus provide a comfortable working environment. Since the pump and motor are in conditions that cannot be interfered with, the system is not exposed to human-caused errors."Advertisement
