7th Istanbul Carbon E-Summit to Be Held to Address Climate Crisis
LOW-CARBON HEROES TO BE ANNOUNCED
Climate is changing. Climate crisis impacts are everywhere in our lives. The harmony of our nature has been disrupted. We know this. The business world's good practices and strategies will be examined at the 7th Istanbul Carbon E-Summit to help our country, which targets growth and increased exports through production, gain climate resilience.
Under the main support of the Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SÜT-D), the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, and Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ), the 7th Istanbul Carbon E-Summit titled "Green Recovery for Climate-Resilient Turkey: The Role of Waste and Energy Management" will bring together stakeholders in a digital setting on 28 September 2021.
At the E-Summit, which will be opened by İTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, a speech from Deputy Minister of Environment and Urbanization and Turkey's Chief Climate Change Negotiator Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Birpınar is expected.

İTÜ Faculty Member and SÜT-D Chairman Prof. Karaosmanoğlu and Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters Associations (İMMİB) Management Board Chairman Tahsin Öztiryaki, representing the steel, iron and non-ferrous metals, electrical-electronics, services, chemicals, mining and jewellery sectors, will explain our export power's actions against the climate crisis in his remarks, while our business leaders will discuss our industry's energy and chemistry today and tomorrow for climate-resilient production, and organizations will interact directly with delegates through their 3D booths at the E-Exhibition, he said. Carbon Heroes will be the summit's joy, excitement, hope and pride In line with SÜT-D's mandate to increase carbon management capacity in Turkey, the Small Carbon Hero and Low-Carbon Hero awards, which the organization announces annually to create wide-ranging impact, will find their recipients. The 2021 SÜT-D Small Carbon Hero award went to the Turkish Plastics Manufacturers Association (PAGEV)'s Environmental Heroes. The PAGEV Plastics Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School showcase will be the joy and hope of summit stakeholders for a climate-friendly tomorrow. The 2021 SÜT-D Low-Carbon Hero Award Ceremony will be held at the summit to honour carbon management's social and technical achievements. Prof. Dr. Karaosmanoğlu, emphasizing that the candidates we are proud of are waiting with excitement and announcing that this year the 2019 record for Low-Carbon Hero Award applications has been broken, said: "We all have things we can do to stop climate change.
