Schneider Electric Announces 2024 Sustainability Results

Schneider Electric, a leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today released details of its sustainability performance for the fourth quarter of 2024 and full-year financial results.

The company's Sustainability Impact Score (SSI) reached 7.55 out of 10, exceeding its year-end 2024 target of 7.40. Tracking and reporting quarterly progress of the SSI's global commitments is a core element for the company to achieve its environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets.

Chris Leong, Chief Sustainability Officer at Schneider Electric, stated: "Schneider Electric was named the World's Most Sustainable Company by TIME and Statista in 2024. Additionally, at the beginning of this year, we received the same award in the Global 100 ranking from Corporate Knights, making us the first company to achieve top position on this list twice. These extraordinary achievements and other major ESG awards inspire us to reach even greater heights in 2025." He continued: "As we enter the final year of our Sustainability Impact program, we will continue to resolutely translate our targets into action. There is still much work ahead, but with the support of our broad ecosystem, our people and all our Impact Creators, we are confident we will succeed."

Schneider Electric continues to take steady steps toward its sustainability targets each quarter and advances in helping customers reduce their carbon footprint. Since 2018, through its energy-saving products, software and services, the company has enabled customers to avoid and prevent 679 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. More than 1,000 suppliers participating in Schneider's Zero Carbon Project are adopting energy efficiency initiatives and taking significant steps toward renewable energy transition. As a result, a 40% reduction in supplier emissions has been achieved by the end of 2024.

Schneider Electric suppliers are also committed to upholding decent working standards, ensuring fair wages, safe working environments and improved working conditions. In just one year, the proportion of suppliers meeting Schneider's strict standards increased from 21% at the end of 2023 to 63% at the end of 2024. This commitment to ethical practices aligns with Schneider's mission to create positive impact on a global scale. Exceeding the 50 million people target, 53.4 million people gained access to clean and reliable electricity by 2024. Schneider's rural electrification projects, including solar-powered microgrids in Africa, are transforming lives by improving the quality of life of local communities and supporting local economies. At the same time, by the end of 2024, Schneider Electric has trained more than 824,000 people in energy management, approaching its target of reaching one million people by the end of 2025. Through its Youth Education and Entrepreneurship program, Schneider is equipping young people with the necessary skills in energy efficiency, preparing them for careers in sustainable sectors.

Alongside these achievements, Schneider Electric was included in the DJSI World Index for the 14th consecutive year, featured on the CDP A List and received an AAA rating from MSCI ESG. Schneider's latest score from EcoVadis also earned it a Platinum medal.

According to Schneider's Sustainability Impact program 2024 report, thanks to Schneider Electric's "Zero Carbon Project," operational carbon emissions from its largest suppliers have been reduced by 40%. In its commitment to contributing to a sustainable future, Schneider has significantly reduced its reliance on waste energy solutions and is leading 135 waste-recycling sites that implement priority reduction, reuse and recycling strategies. Schneider Electric increased the green material content in its products by 38% by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024 and aims to raise this to 50% for 2025.

It has achieved 78% use of recycled cardboard in primary and secondary packaging, eliminating single-use plastics. Through the "Decent Work" program launched in 2021, 63% of Schneider's strategic suppliers have met requirements to provide dignified working conditions by protecting workers' rights. Additionally, 53 million people now have access to clean and reliable energy, including 2.5 million people in East Africa, India and Bangladesh, who can access healthcare by reaching essential medical equipment and facilities. 824,000 people have better career opportunities through energy management skills and actively contribute to community sustainability and well-being. In 2024, more than 100 foundation delegates and local employees supported professional training and mentoring initiatives with 17,000 volunteer days to deliver sustainable impact.
