"Wastewater Management Workshop in Türkiye" Begins

The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization is organizing a "Wastewater Management Workshop in Turkey" to strengthen and improve sustainable management of wastewater and treatment sludge. The 3-day workshop will bring together representatives from universities, organized industrial zones, local administrations, industrialists, companies and public institutions to determine Turkey's wastewater roadmap. The Ministry will hold the "Wastewater Management Workshop in Turkey" on 25-27 April 2017 in Antalya with the aim of discussing problems experienced in the country regarding wastewater and treatment sludge management, generating solution proposals, strengthening existing practices, diversifying ongoing research, making decisions that will guide and support applications and research, and ensuring the strengthening and improvement of sustainable management of wastewater and treatment sludges. Representatives from universities, organized industrial zones, local administrations, industrialists, companies and public institutions will come together at the workshop. The workshop, which will be held in 6 separate sessions, will discuss the development of institutional capacity and financial management of local administrations, new technologies in wastewater treatment, design and operational problems of wastewater treatment plants, treatment sludge management, wastewater management in industry, and EU harmonization process in wastewater management. Commenting on the workshop, Environment and Urbanization Minister Mehmet Özhaseki said: "The workshop will be a great opportunity for sharing knowledge, experience and suggestions, discussing problems experienced in the country on wastewater management and generating solution proposals, and will shed significant light on the steps to be taken by the public and private sectors on wastewater management."
