Webinar Held on "Digital Applications for Green and Sustainable Production"

TÜSİAD Industrial Digital Transformation Days: "Digital Applications for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing" Webinar Held Within the scope of TÜSİAD Industrial Digital Transformation Days, organized annually since 2017 with different themes under the TÜSİAD Industrial Policy Roundtable, the ninth event was held on Tuesday, 20 October with the theme "Digital Applications for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing." The event, which addressed sustainable and green manufacturing—a topic playing an important role in shaping policies at both national and global levels, particularly within the European Union—from a digital solutions perspective, opened with remarks by Bahadır Balkır, Deputy Chairman of the TÜSİAD Board of Directors and Chairman of the Industrial Policy Roundtable.

Bahadır Balkır highlighted the following points in his opening remarks:

"Climate change is undoubtedly one of the most pressing issues of our time. We are going through a period in which our economic activities threaten ourselves, the living creatures around us, and our planet. Unfortunately, we cannot overcome problems such as resource scarcity and climate change simply by changing our daily practices. For this, a new economic system must be defined, and the way we do business must be reshaped according to these risks. This is precisely where digital technologies play a crucial role. The impact of digital transformation is critical in the transition to a circular economy and in redesigning production to prioritize the environment for a sustainable future." Following the opening remarks, Oğuzhan Öztürk, Chairman of the TÜSİAD Next Generation Industry Working Group, delivered a presentation titled "Digital Applications for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing."

The event continued with:

- Hasan Süel, Deputy Chief Executive of Vodafone, discussing Vodafone's Green Data Centre strategy covering the Adana Technology Centre Solar Power Plant and digital agriculture solutions; - Tansel Özyönüm, Chief Operating Officer of Organik Kimya, and Gökay Turanlıoğlu, General Manager of Qualist, presenting the Golden Batch Tool developed through the partnership between Organik Kimya and Qualist, which will optimize processes for minimum energy requirements and thus reduce carbon emissions, and Qualist's Green Chimney application, which monitors stack gas emissions and targets environmentally conscious, sustainable manufacturing; - "Digital Use Cases for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing" panel featuring Ömer Ünal, Global Energy Manager at Arçelik, discussing Arçelik's new washing machine factory in Romania, covering its energy management system, intelligent heating-cooling-lighting scenarios, machine-based energy consumption analysis and consumption forecasting, and integration of renewable energy systems.
