Conagen Develops Debondable Adhesive for Textile Products Conagen, a product-focused research and development company with large-scale production capacity, has announced the development of an innovative debondable (reversible) textile adhesive made from high-performance materials derived from sustainable and natural biomolecules. Conagen's debondable adhesive offers a significant application in reprocessability during garment manufacturing. Traditionally, errors occurring during production can lead to material waste and additional production costs. In this context, Conagen's adhesive's reprocessability feature presents a completely new solution for the clothing industry, allowing errors to be corrected quickly and effectively without the need to discard and waste valuable materials. Adjustments can be made easily by dissolving the adhesive, and fabric components can be seamlessly reprocessed. This increases production efficiency, reduces material waste, and provides significant cost savings for manufacturers. Furthermore, the dissolution of textile fabric structure plays a vital role in textile recycling by enabling efficient material separation, preserving material quality, expanding recycling opportunities, and advancing circular economy objectives. Traditional adhesives used in garment production typically create permanent bonds, making it difficult to separate fabric components during recycling. Conagen's debondable adhesive offers a practical and economical solution to optimize production processes in the clothing industry while promoting sustainability through fabric recycling. The ability to unbond and reprocess materials brings new flexibility and efficiency that benefits both manufacturers and the environment. Sara Johnson, Senior Materials Scientist at Conagen, stated: "Conagen's pioneering adhesive has unlocked new possibilities and opportunities. This groundbreaking development enables the efficient separation of materials during reprocessing and recycling operations while preserving the integrity of textile fibers and guaranteeing their quality for future use. With the market launch of Conagen's adhesive, we are taking an important step toward achieving a more sustainable and environmentally conscious textile industry." Source
