Textile Sector Achieves Record Exports

Record Exports from Textile Sector Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data shows that Turkey's exports in January reached USD 19.4 billion, up 10.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. This marks the highest January export figure to date, with the annualized export value reaching USD 256 billion. The textile and raw materials sector, which recorded USD 815 million in exports in January 2022, achieved USD 818.844 million in exports in January 2023, a 0.5% increase. The sector thus achieved its highest January export figure on record. USD 345 million of the sector's exports last month were shipped from Istanbul. Istanbul was followed by Gaziantep with USD 119 million and Bursa with USD 105 million.

Italy Accounted for the Largest Share of Foreign Sales

Italy was the country with the highest foreign sales in the sector last month at USD 78 million. Italy was followed by Belarus with USD 57 million and Germany with USD 36 million. Looking at the country groups with the highest exports in the sector last month, EU countries ranked first with USD 320 million, the Commonwealth of Independent States second with USD 149 million, and African countries third with USD 91 million. According to TİM data, the textile and raw materials sector, which exported to 162 countries and regions in January, accounted for 4.2% of the country's total exports in the same period. Source: (AA)
