Building Materials Sector Discusses Digital and Green Transformation in EU Harmonization Process
The Federation of Building Products Manufacturers (YÜF) held an online information webinar titled "EU New Construction Products Regulation CPR (2024/3110) – Implementations and Impacts on the Sector" on 3 July 2025, as part of its 20th anniversary activities, with the organization and content handled by TÜRKÇİMENTO in cooperation with the Turkish Ceramics Federation (TSF).
The Building Materials Manufacturers Federation (YÜF), as part of its 20th anniversary activities, organized a webinar in collaboration with the Turkey Ceramic Federation (TSF) on "EU New Building Materials Regulation CPR (2024/3110) – Implementation and Sectoral Impact" on 3 July 2025, under the organization and content management of TÜRKÇIMENTO.
Trade Expert Elif Berrak Taşyürek from the Ministry of Trade's International Agreements and EU General Directorate and Head of the Building Materials Department Nuran Danışman from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change participated as speakers. The event provided important assessments regarding the building materials sector's compliance process with European Union legislation.
EU Legislation Reshaping Sectoral Standards
Elif Berrak Taşyürek stated that the building materials sector is being restructured under the European Green Deal with carbon border adjustment, circular economy and eco-design rules. She noted that carbon-content-based financial obligations for energy-intensive sectors such as iron-steel, cement and aluminium will begin in 2026, and that concepts such as product life cycle, environmental footprint and digital product passport have become indispensable. She also emphasized that performance criteria and conformity assessment procedures have become mandatory for market entry to the EU, and that sustainability standards for product groups such as cement and ceramics have come into effect.
CPR Regulation Brings Digitalization and Transparency to the Fore
Nuran Danışman summarized the core objectives of the CPR (EU New Building Materials Regulation) revision as "ensuring safe and sustainable product circulation in the internal market, contributing to green and digital transition and protecting human health." She emphasized that in order to support the digital transformation of the construction sector, digital access to product information, transparency and traceability must be provided. She also drew attention to the importance of standardizing digital passport systems, environmental declaration software, complaint management and information-sharing systems. She also referred to the three-year technical work plan that the EU Commission plans to publish by 2026.
More than 120 participants attended
More than 120 people from public sector, private sector and civil society organizations attended the webinar. The event, enriched by questions and comments from participants, was completed with high efficiency thanks to its interactive nature.
Turkey Ceramic Federation Secretary General Mehmet Mercan and YÜF moderator Director of Quality and Environment Board Alpay E. İğrek emphasized that the sector is moving forward with determination in compliance with European Union regulations. It was stated that the new regulation brings a multidimensional transformation in the building materials sector that prioritizes environmental sustainability, digitalization and human health.
