Winners of the Bayer Inter-School Science Competition Announced

The winners of the Bayer Inter-High School Science Competition, which Bayer Türk organized for the fourth time this year with the aim of fostering a love of science among students and encouraging them to make new discoveries and strengthen their creativity, have been announced. The students and schools that ranked in the top three in the competition were determined by a jury composed of academics, while two teams selected by Bayer Türk employees also won the Bayer Special Award. The competition, which featured 626 projects under the theme "Adding Value to Life," was won this year by İzmir Fen Lisesi students Hande Sena Çiftçi and Yağmur Parlak, who developed a project on bioethanol production from synthesis gases titled "Bioethanol Production from Synthesis Gases Using Microorganisms." Second place was won by Selin Kolsuz and Yavuz Kaklıkkaya from TEV İnanç Türkeş Özel Lisesi with their project titled "Do Not Strengthen Bacteria While Treating Your Poultry," which examined the use of antibiotics and its effects. Third place went to İzmir Özel Ege Lisesi students Şevval Aykuş and Dilara Karaca with their project titled "Innovative Smart Material for Bone Fractures: Polymer-Based 3D Tissue Scaffolds," which developed an innovative method using polymer-based materials as a treatment approach for bone fractures. The Bayer Special Award was given to two projects this year as a new development. The project titled "Innovative Flooring Fabrication Work Generating Energy Using Waste Industrial Products and Having an Alternative Safety System" by Niğde Akşemseddin Bilim Ve Sanat Merkezi Lisesi students Abdullah Oğul and Halil Ataberk Bakırcı, along with Ankara Özel Batıkent Mektebim Lisesi student Yusuf Çolak's project "Water is the Future," were deemed worthy of the Bayer Special Award. The awards and plaques were presented to the winning and finalist students at a special ceremony attended by the Bayer Türk Board of Directors. At the ceremony, jury member journalist Emin Çapa congratulated the students and said: "The effort shown by young people in the name of science is truly commendable. The energy in their eyes, the passion they have for their projects, we hope will enable them to take very positive steps toward the future. I congratulate all of them once again."
