The global technology industry, valued at USD 4.45 trillion, will gather at the 44th GITEX Global – Dubai International Technology Expo, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 14-18 October this year. Organized with the cooperation of ExpoHIS – Services Exporters Association, the Turkish National Pavilion at GITEX Global covers a wide range of topics including artificial intelligence, telecommunications, blockchain, cloud computing, cybersecurity, fintech, education technologies, healthcare technology, sustainable technology, IoT, WEB 3.0, gaming and smart cities. More than 50 Turkish technology companies are expected to participate in the expo this year. GITEX Global – Dubai International Technology Expo, the world's largest and most comprehensive fair, will bring together more than 5,000 companies from over 180 countries in Dubai from 14-18 October. The National Pavilion organization of the fair, which will host thousands of technology giants providing services in many areas such as telecommunications, cybersecurity, smart business solutions, cloud services, data, artificial intelligence and IoT, as well as more than 50 Turkish companies, is the Services Exporters Association (HİB), while operations and support services will be provided by ExpoHIS. Local IT companies wishing to expand from the Gulf region to the global market will showcase their current technologies at the fair and gain the opportunity to reach new markets for service exports. Information and Communications Technology Sector Reached TRY 785 Billion ExpoHIS General Manager Kenan Onak spoke as follows: ExpoHIS General Manager Kenan Onak, noting that GITEX Global, which has succeeded in attracting the best technology companies from around the world by expanding its scope each year, has created significant potential for the information and communications technology and software sectors, stated: "According to the TÜBİSAD Information and Communications Technology Sector Report, Turkey's information and communications technology sector grew by 83% in TL terms in 2023 to reach TRY 785 billion; with its qualified human resources and cost advantages, the sector is increasingly expanding its potential. When we look at the two main elements that make up the sector size, we see that information technology, which grew faster during 2019-2023, surpassed communications technology in terms of market size in 2023. Based on this, we can say that for the first time in Turkey, information technology has outpaced communications technology. The biggest factor triggering information technology to surpass communications technology is the over 100% growth in software. Software, growing faster than all other sector sub-categories, became the differentiating sub-category in information technology's surpassing of communications technology. For Turkish companies to carry this success to the global level, the importance of GITEX Global is very great. With the technologies they will showcase to other companies, the innovative perspectives they will bring to the sector and their observations on current trends, they will also map out their own export journeys. GITEX Global is opening a major opportunity door to advance our country's rising value in this sector through local companies." ExpoHIS; organized the GITEX Africa Expo, the second edition of which was held in Morocco from 29-31 May this year by DWTC, the organizer of GITEX Global, which holds the title of the world's largest technology fair. With the National Pavilion organization arranged by ExpoHIS, 9 Turkish technology companies participated, and bilateral meetings were held to support the IT sector's international expansion and extend its export network. DWTC aims to further expand the GITEX brand with GITEX Europe and GITEX Asia fairs, which it will organize in Germany and Singapore starting next year.
