Japan and US Aim to Cooperate on Chip Supply Problem

Japan and the United States have agreed to work closely to resolve semiconductor supply chain issues affecting the global automotive industry. According to a statement from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Minister Kajiyama Hiroshi held a telephone conversation with U.S. counterpart Gina Raimondo. During the discussion, the two ministers addressed trade and energy relations and agreed to cooperate on resolving the global semiconductor supply chain problem negatively affecting the automotive industry. According to a report in Kyodo News Agency, the details of the cooperation will be shaped at a summit scheduled for 16 April in the United States between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide.   Source
