GEBKİM Specialized Chemical Organized Industrial Zone Continues Disinfection Efforts in Fight Against Coronavirus

Experts underscore the importance of observing hygiene rules and maintaining cleanliness among the measures that can be taken against coronavirus. GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Organized Industrial Zone has taken precautions against coronavirus risk. To prevent the spread of the virus and ensure hygiene within the industrial zone, disinfection work is being carried out using a dedicated disinfection vehicle managed by GEBKİM Industrial Zone Management and a specialized team. All roads, sidewalks and common use areas within the zone, as well as factory entrances and ring roads of member companies are being regularly disinfected with sodium hypochlorite by specialized disinfection vehicles and teams. Koruma Chlor Alkali is supporting the disinfection operations by supplying sodium hypochlorite, which experts recommend as the most effective solution for surface cleaning against viruses. The disinfection team, using special clothing and equipment at GEBKİM Industrial Zone Management, will also carry out disinfection operations at member companies requesting such services. Until the coronavirus risk is completely eliminated, GEBKİM Industrial Zone's special disinfection team will continue disinfection work.

Dilovası streets also disinfected against coronavirus

The disinfection work regularly and free of charge conducted within the Industrial Zone by GEBKİM Industrial Zone Management has begun to be applied in Dilovası streets as well. Thus, GEBKİM's multipurpose service vehicle, together with Dilovası Municipality cleaning teams, disinfected the streets in Dilovası before continuing operations at GEBKİM Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. From the outset, necessary precautions were taken to protect the health of employees working at GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Industrial Zone Management where production continues and to protect them from the virus, and the measures taken were shared with companies located in the industrial zone. GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Industrial Zone is also considering the care of street animals during the coronavirus period and is calling on everyone to be sensitive during this process. GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Industrial Zone continues to provide 24/7 services for 98 dogs living in the industrial zone with a care center suitable for health screenings and emergency intervention, veterinary services, 11 feeding points and dozens of dog shelters. With the support of participating companies, the nutritional and health needs of the animals are continuously met. GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Vefa İbrahim Aracı stated the following regarding the matter: "As GEBKİM Chemical Specialization Industrial Zone Management, we took our precautions against coronavirus from day one and carried out work to ensure hygiene throughout the industrial zone. We have recently added Dilovası streets to our disinfection work. These efforts will continue and expand until the epidemic ends. We are facing a situation unprecedented in recent times. I believe that we will get through these difficult days by strictly adhering to the measures taken, in unity and solidarity, and I wish for healthy days ahead," he said.

Precautions taken by GEBKİM Industrial Zone Management within the framework of coronavirus are as follows:

 

• Immediately following 10 March 2020, when the first coronavirus case in Turkey was announced, all Industrial Zone Management employees were given informational training by the Occupational Physician regarding Covid-19.
• Masks, gloves and hand disinfectant were distributed to employees.
• While disinfectant and thermometers were added to frequently used areas such as the Industrial Zone Management and Fire Station buildings, temperature measurements of personnel and visitors were also started at the beginning of each shift.
• On 17 March 2020, GEBKİM Mosque located within the industrial zone was closed for worship.
• Documents, parcels, invoices and other materials coming from outside are kept in quarantine for 1 day before being brought inside and distributed to relevant departments. Additionally, document circulation among employees was reduced.
• A shift rotation work system was introduced to reduce employee interaction.
• Industrial Zone Management employees in risk groups (pregnant, chronic illness, age, etc.) were kept isolated at home.
• Lunch service in the canteen and tea service in common use areas were discontinued. A system was implemented where meal allowances would be provided to employees in digital form.
• Disinfectant was added to shuttle services and seating arrangements were reconfigured to increase distance. A system was implemented limiting passenger numbers to 50 percent of the capacity stated in licenses announced by the Governor. Thermometers and hand disinfectant were added to vehicles for taking staff temperature before boarding the shuttle.
• The administrative building and fire station are disinfected every week. Additionally, buildings are cleaned thoroughly after work hours daily, while frequently contacted points such as door handles are wiped with sodium hypochlorite several times during the day.
• Free masks and disinfectant distribution is being carried out to companies located in GEBKİM Industrial Zone.
• Roads, sidewalks and common use areas in GEBKİM Industrial Zone are disinfected daily.
• All factory entrances and ring roads in the industrial zone are disinfected free of charge.
• Temperature measurements are being taken by Security at GEBKİM Industrial Zone entrance gates.
