Facade Project of the Year Comes from Spain

Baumit Life Challenge "Façade of the Year Competition 2018" concluded. Spain claimed the grand prize for the second time since 2014. Austria took first place in the special award category. The final of the Baumit Life Challenge "Façade of the Year Competition" took place this year in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, which was the 2016 winner. The winner of the final gala, held at Bratislava Philharmonic Concert Hall, was the "Residential Complex and Health Centre" by the architecture group Bonell i Gil & Peris + Toral from Spain. In the Life Challenge Competition, whose 2018 motto was "Building Design Meets Innovation," projects were evaluated in six categories: Single-Family House; Residential Complex, Housing, Apartment; Non-Residential Building, Thermal Insulation Renovation, Historic Building, and Special Award: Building with Distinctive Texture. Baumit Turkey participated in the competition with 10 projects implemented in various cities including Istanbul, Bursa, Denizli and Ankara. A total of 325 projects from 27 countries where Baumit operates submitted entries, and 36 projects reached the final. Projects were evaluated by a jury composed of architects from 12 countries, including Turkey. In the competition voting, which emphasized that 66 percent of Baumit products be used on the façades of participating projects, the "Residential Complex and Health Centre" by the architecture group Bonelli Gil & Peris + Toral from Spain won the Façade of the Year award. In the competition, where Austria was represented quite extensively with a total of five projects this year, "House Marie" received the Special Award: Building with Distinctive Texture. In the competition, winners of the six categories received prize money totalling EUR 6,600. Spain, receiving the first prize award, won a total prize of EUR 9,900.
