Saint-Gobain strengthens Asia-Pacific operations through acquisitions in Vietnam and Japan.
Saint-Gobain announced two acquisitions aimed at reinforcing its position in high-growth and high-value business areas in the Asia-Pacific Region, where it recorded 9.0% sales growth in local currency terms in the first quarter of 2026.
In Vietnam, Saint-Gobain completed the acquisition of Phu My Innovative Materials (PMIM), one of the country's largest and most advanced plasterboard manufacturing facilities. The company generated approximately EUR 20 million in revenue in 2025 while demonstrating strong growth potential. With a robust network of 3,200 retailers and 15,000 applicators (which has doubled since 2022), Saint-Gobain is noted as holding a leading position in Vietnam in plasterboard, light steel framing systems, cement board and construction chemicals. Through 12 production facilities in the country, the Group provides integrated solutions for residential, commercial and infrastructure projects, generating over EUR 200 million in revenue in 2025—2.5 times higher than a decade ago. This acquisition will strengthen Saint-Gobain's presence in Vietnam while enabling it to more effectively meet growing demand across the country for lightweight, efficient and sustainable building solutions.
In Japan, Saint-Gobain signed a share transfer agreement to acquire AGC Polymer Materials, in which AGC holds the majority stake. A leading supplier of polyurethane-based waterproofing and flooring solutions, the company achieved approximately EUR 50 million in sales in 2025. The transaction is expected to strengthen Saint-Gobain's GCP construction chemicals platform in Japan and further expand its operations in the country, which generated over EUR 300 million in revenue in 2025. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
The acquisitions are stated to be fully aligned with Saint-Gobain's "Lead & Grow" strategic plan, which aims to reinforce its leadership in high-growth potential regions such as Asia-Pacific.
