One in every three women between the ages of 25 and 40 reports being regularly affected by acne-type lesions. Along with acne, cutaneous spots create imbalance on the skin and reduce the effectiveness of antimicrobial protection. Rather than developing compounds targeting the agents responsible for these issues, we decided to create lesions in the laboratory that work in cooperation with our skin.

What is Postbiotic?

Postbiotic is a compound produced by bacteria that can observe the bacterial ecosystem. Why marine organisms? Because bacterioplankton and human microbiota share 73% similarity. Cutaneous spots are an inflammatory response to stress. During temporary stress periods, imbalance is observed in cutaneous microbiota, which leads to inflammatory reactions. Cutaneous spots develop more rapidly in a skin barrier where imbalance has been observed. Daily exposure to external aggressors and aging creates conditions for weakening of the cutaneous barrier, which plays a role in both physical and microbial protection. There are three main types of bacteria found on the skin surface: Propionobacteria, Corynebacteria and Staphylococci. In this ecosystem, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionobacterium acnes interact continuously. S. epidermidis has the ability to control the proliferation of P. acnes in order to maintain microbiota balance and skin health. According to results from a group of 30 volunteers with moderate lesions applied twice daily for 28 days; EPS SEAPUR acts on cutaneous microbiota and supports self-rebalancing. EPS SEAPUR achieves a +13% ratio between S. epidermidis/P. acnes. This result demonstrates the promoting activity of S. epidermidis. Given the ability to control P. acnes growth, a reduction in lesion count follows. EPS SEAPUR reduces redness caused by bacterial stress. EPS SEAPUR reduces IL8 secretion by -30%. Beyond promoting the development of acne lesions, an imbalance in the S. epidermidis/P. acnes ratio in favor of P. acnes leads to IL8 secretion. EPS SEAPUR rebalances S. epidermidis/P. acnes ratio and reduces IL8 production. EPS SEAPUR increases LCE3C synthesis. EPS SEAPUR stimulates LCE3C synthesis by +52%. LCE proteins have a primary function in protecting the skin. They are part of the composition of the corneal envelope and therefore the barrier function; they possess antimicrobial properties to prevent the development of opportunistic bacteria. Studies have shown that LCE3C is reduced in stressed skin models and aged skin models.

EPS SEAPUR reduces the number and redness of lesions. EPS SEAPUR improves skin quality.
