ELIX Polymers presents 2020 Sustainability Report with renewed approach.
ELIX Polymers has released its 2020 Sustainability Report. This document presents a new approach compared to previous versions as it introduces ELIX's 2030 Sustainability Strategy to advance full integration of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its operations and contribute to their achievement.
The 2020 Sustainability Report was prepared in accordance with the core option of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the primary international reference framework for preparing such documents.

To implement this sustainability strategy, ELIX supported seven programs within its 2020-2025 Sustainability Action Plan.
This plan aims to take action along four core pillars that form ELIX Polymers' sustainable vision: promoting a circular economy for plastics, working to adapt to and mitigate climate change, ensuring ethics in its business model, and contributing to reducing biodiversity loss.
The scope of implementation extends across the entire value chain from raw material extraction to the end consumer, with special attention given to local communities.
Regarding the environment, ELIX has reduced greenhouse gas emissions from production and the amount of waste generated, particularly hazardous waste. ELIX has maintained energy efficiency and circular water use management programs.
Key aspects of the report are:
- Circular Plastics, where ELIX aims to promote a circular economy for thermoplastics and product recovery/reuse; Responsible Innovation, to improve material sustainability and promote design of recyclable, reusable products.
- Climate Care, by continuing energy efficiency and waste management programs, implementing new technologies in renewable energy and offsetting carbon footprint.
- Through Sustainable Supply Chain to reduce environmental and social impacts from its operations via a network of local suppliers; promoting people development through training for employees and high rates of permanent contracts.
- Basing its operations on good governance and ethics to extend the company's values internally and externally.
- Supporting local communities and improving community welfare through the value chain and through conservation and restoration of local ecosystems.
