Technological Breakthrough in Boosting the Recovery of Global Strategic Mineral Resources
Niutech, a global leader in industrial continuous pyrolysis technology, announced that its independently developed new-generation titanium-iron tailings reduction and enrichment technology and equipment for the recovery of low-grade and complex-structured titanium-iron tailings has been assessed as an internationally advanced technology by a national-level professional institution.

The demonstration project based on this technology, which aims to produce 300,000 tons of high-grade titanium-rich material annually, is being built in Linyi city, in China's Shandong province. According to Niutech, once completed, the project will become one of Asia's leading demonstration projects in the field of green recovery of strategic mineral resources.

Developed as a strategic step in the field of comprehensive mineral resource utilization, the new equipment was designed around the principles of safety, environmental protection, low carbon and high efficiency. The system incorporates the company's latest low-temperature pyrolysis and in-situ reduction technology, providing advances in areas such as reduction temperature control, self-circulation of waste heat, and intelligent system management.

Niutech noted that traditional electric furnace smelting methods require high temperatures and high energy consumption, while some hydrometallurgical methods involve complex processes and create environmental pressure. A technical official from the company stated that the new system significantly lowers reaction temperatures through cross-disciplinary innovation, thereby offering both waste-to-resource transformation and green carbon reduction together.
The solution uses waste plastics and other organic waste as reducing agents; it completes the in-situ reduction of titanium-iron tailings within a single integrated system by generating reducing gas through low-temperature pyrolysis. According to Niutech, the line has three key advantages: low-temperature continuous reduction controlled below 700°C, at an industrial scale between 550°C and 600°C; energy efficiency with a waste heat utilization rate above 93 percent, more than 36 percent lower total energy consumption compared to traditional processes, and approximately 40 percent lower CO2 emissions per unit of product; as well as safe and intelligent operation supported by coordinated temperature control, dynamic sealing and an intelligent control platform.
