Mediterranean Chemical Exporters' Union Reports USD 326.8 Million in Exports Saadettin Çağan, Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Chemical Substances and Products Exporters' Union (AKMİB), announced that the union achieved USD 326.8 million in exports during November, noting that they concentrated their efforts on the US market within the framework of the Far Markets Strategy. Çağan stated that they visited the Chicago Turkish Trade Center, established by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) with support from the Ministry of Commerce under the US programme, and witnessed firsthand the services the center provides to Turkish exporters. The center, built on a 10,000 square-meter area near O'hare Airport, offers office and warehouse facilities alongside comprehensive services that companies may require in the US. Çağan said: "AKMİB members must take full advantage of the services offered by this center."
"We expect measures to be taken to curb increases in energy costs"
Addressing sector challenges and issues requiring solutions, Çağan stressed the need to control rising energy costs to sustain success in the global arena. He emphasized that creating a predictable environment through accessible financing and cash flow stability amid the global crisis would further strengthen the sector's competitiveness. AKMİB's Chairman assessed November exports by product groups and countries, stating: "In the 11th month of the year, our union placed 425,768 tonnes of products in international markets, achieving USD 176.8 million in exports in the mineral oils and mineral fuels product group, USD 67.9 million in plastics and plastic products, and USD 35.1 million in inorganic chemicals. During the period in question, our highest export values were recorded in the Netherlands, Spain and Northern Cyprus markets. We achieved USD 115.3 million in exports to the Netherlands with a 33 percent increase, USD 28.1 million to Spain with a 110 percent increase, and USD 20.5 million to Northern Cyprus with a 66 percent increase."
