Western Mediterranean Export Figures Released Two-month exports from the Western Mediterranean region, which encompasses Antalya, Isparta and Burdur, reached USD 428,150,108. Western Mediterranean Exporters Association Chairman Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu stated in a statement that the region achieved USD 214,082,609 in exports during February. Çavuşoğlu noted that exports during the two-month period increased by 3.19 percent compared to the previous year, and that January and February exports were recorded at USD 428,150,108. Stating that the fresh vegetable and fruit sector was the engine of regional exports both in February and during the two-month period, Çavuşoğlu said: "The fresh fruit and vegetable sector, which increased its exports by 47.24 percent in the same period this year compared to February of last year, became the sector with the highest exports from the Western Mediterranean with USD 96,765,470. Mining and metals ranked second, wood products and forest products third, chemicals fourth, and cement, glass, ceramics and earth products fifth. During the two-month period, the fresh fruit and vegetables, mining and metals, wood products, chemicals and chemical products, and cereals, legumes, oilseeds and products sectors respectively ranked in the top five."

Çavuşoğlu reported that in February, the highest exports by destination country were USD 16,814,124 to Germany. Çavuşoğlu noted that Germany was followed by Russia with USD 16,366,000, Poland with USD 14,003,790, Ukraine with USD 11,855,000 and Romania with USD 11,789,000, adding that significant increases were recorded in exports to Poland, Germany and Russia. For the January and February period, Çavuşoğlu noted that the highest exports were USD 40,885,151 to Russia, followed by Germany, China, Ukraine and Romania. Source
