IIB Achieves Exports of $10.3 Billion

Istanbul Exporters' Associations Report USD 10.3 Billion in Exports Istanbul Exporters' Associations (İİB) achieved approximately USD 10.3 billion in exports during the first 11 months of the year through its seven member associations, representing a 17.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Istanbul exporters sold products to 204 country markets in 11 months and accounted for 5 percent of the country's total exports. During the first 11 months of the year, Istanbul Exporters' Associations recorded their highest export value at USD 837 million to Iraq. The main exports to Iraq consisted of poultry products, animal products and furniture, paper and forest products. Following Iraq, İİB exported the most to the United States, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom and Israel. In exports by İİB, cereals, legumes, oilseeds and furniture, paper products were shipped to the USA; vessels, yachts and related services as well as furniture, paper and forest products to Russia; nuts and nut products along with furniture, paper and forest products to Germany; furniture, paper and forest products as well as cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products to the United Kingdom; and furniture, paper and forest products along with cereals, legumes, oilseeds and their products to Israel. When grouped by country regions, the Middle Eastern countries emerged as İİB's largest export destination at USD 2.1 billion. Exports to Middle Eastern countries increased by 39.8 percent in the first 11 months compared to the same period of the previous year. Istanbul Exporters' Associations recorded over USD 1 billion in exports in November. The association's highest November exports went to Iraq, the United States and Germany. Among the associations within İİB, Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters' Association achieved USD 3.7 billion with a 33.4 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year; Istanbul Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters' Association (İHBİR) exported USD 2.9 billion with a 22 percent increase. Vessels, Yachts and Related Services Exporters' Association (GYHİB) recorded USD 1.2 billion; Istanbul Fish Products and Animal Products Exporters' Association (İSHİB) achieved USD 1.1 billion with a 40.4 percent increase; Istanbul Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association (İFMİB) exported USD 562.3 million; Istanbul Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters' Association achieved USD 404 million with a 17.7 percent increase; Istanbul Dried Fruits and Products Exporters' Association (KUMİB) recorded USD 208 million in exports.
Müjdat Sezer, Coordinator Chairman of Istanbul Exporters' Associations (İİB), made the following statement on the matter:
"During the first 11 months of the year, İİB, maintaining the growth momentum it achieved in exports at a steady pace, became the third general secretariat among 14 general secretariats to achieve the highest export growth rate. With just days left until the end of the year, I can confidently say that we will close 2022 with export growth."  
Sezer, noting that they will close 2022 with export growth, continued as follows:
"However, we had an intensive and successful month with the events we organized both domestically and internationally. Our associations participated in ISM Middle East 2022, the world's leading confectionery and snacks fair, the Israfood Tel Aviv Fair and the Halal Expo Fair with information stands, successfully representing their sectors. We organized Turkey's national participation in the All4Pack 2022 Fair, one of Europe's largest fairs. Representatives of Reliance Retail Ltd from India, as part of the specialized purchasing delegation program, conducted bilateral business meetings with exporting companies in Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin. We also organized the Sourcing From Turkey Purchasing Delegation with the participation of foreign buyers from Bulgaria. Our companies held successful business negotiations with potential buyer companies abroad. Looking ahead, European Union countries are at the top of our targets. We will continue working with full effort to enable poultry products exports to be opened to European Union countries."   Source - (AA)
