Anisoprint Technology Enables 3D Printed Tooling

Schunk Carbon Technology, a division of Schunk Group (Menomonee Falls, Wis., USA), which specializes in the development, manufacture and application of carbon and ceramic solutions, has announced that it is using 3D printers and materials from Anisoprint (Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg) to accelerate the production of specialized tools. Schunk Group manufactures structural components from carbon/graphite, carbon composites, silicon carbide and quartz for high-temperature applications, automotive and small engine technology. Anisoprint provides equipment solutions for the manufacture of end-use parts based on proprietary composite fiber co-extrusion (CFC) technology. By controlling the orientation and volume fraction of reinforcing fibers, it enables customized adaptation of material properties. Parts produced with this technology are reported to be stronger, lighter and less expensive than those made from metal or non-optimized fiber-reinforced composites.
