Azerbaijan to Get $90 Million Battery Project

 

YEO Teknoloji, which has become a global player in renewable energy, continues to grow with its global projects. YEO Teknoloji has signed a contract worth USD 90,497,070 with Azernerji CJSC, Azerbaijan's energy grid operator, for the turnkey installation of an energy storage system with a total capacity of 500 MWh.

 

Under the contract scope; battery, inverter (Power Conversion System - PCS), battery management system (BMS), energy management systems (EMS) supply, engineering and commissioning work will be carried out. In addition, end-to-end installation including the integration of energy storage systems with high-voltage transformer substations and the grid will be performed. The project, planned to be completed within 1 year, will be carried out by ReapG, a subsidiary of YEO Teknoloji.

 

The project aims to contribute to Azerbaijan's green energy transition and renewable energy integration. The reliability and flexibility of the electricity grid will be enhanced through lithium-ion battery technologies and advanced energy management systems. The 500 MWh capacity facility to be installed under the project will be integrated into transformer substations in 2 separate regions in Azerbaijan.

YEO Teknoloji took an important step in February this year to strengthen its push into energy storage systems. Reap Battery, a 100% subsidiary of YEO Teknoloji, formed a partnership with Great Power, a Tier 1 listed leading global battery manufacturer. ReapG, established with 51% Reap Battery and 49% Great Power partnership, will sign one of the year's most significant projects in Azerbaijan.

 

According to the collaboration, production will be carried out at the energy storage systems factory in Istanbul Tuzla, with exports to Turkish and European markets as well as Turkic republics and African countries. ReapG's Istanbul Tuzla factory, which is nearing completion, is targeted to have a production capacity of 5 GWh.
