Coca-Cola İçecek Installs Solar Power Plant

Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) continues to work in line with its 2030 Sustainability Commitments, which it announced on 22 April Earth Day last year. According to a statement from the company, CCI has established solar power plants at its Köyceğiz and Isparta facilities in Turkey with the goal of operating its factories with 100 percent renewable energy and transitioning to carbon-neutral production. With the activation of the power plant, CCI began to meet 36 percent of electricity consumption at its Isparta facility with self-generated electricity. With the solar power plants to be activated, electricity consumption of the facility will be covered by renewable energy investments at 25 percent in Köyceğiz and 35 percent through a wind turbine to be installed at the Çorlu facility. In Pakistan, 14 percent of consumption at the Haripur facility and 12 percent of consumption at the Multan facility will be obtained from the established solar power plants.

'CCI will continue renewable energy investments without slowing down in the coming period'

Coca-Cola İçecek Chief Executive Officer Burak Başarır made the following remarks on the subject: 'An important aspect of our commitments was 'renewable energy use'. We are aware that we have much more work to do, but I am pleased to say that we have taken significant steps in this area before the first year is over. With investments that bring us one step closer to our 2030 commitments, we will provide 13 percent of Turkey's total electricity consumption and 3 percent of Pakistan's consumption from renewable energy sources from one of our two largest operations in the first year. CCI will continue renewable energy investments without slowing down in the coming period.'   CCI, which operates in 11 countries and serves a population of 430 million with an ecosystem comprising 10 thousand employees and nearly 100 thousand people, has demonstrated the responsibility it carries for the future through its 2030 Sustainability Commitments. By 2030, CCI has taken action to use at least 50 percent recycled plastic in all its packaging, establish packaging collection systems, increase water efficiency by 20 percent, implement water recovery projects, transition to 100 percent renewable electricity at its facilities, reduce carbon emissions by 13 percent, achieve 100 percent compliance with its Human Rights Policy, increase female employment to promote gender equality in the workplace, and reach 3.5 million people through sustainable development programs.   Source
