A Cleaner Environment Means a Better World

Ender Yorgancılar, Chairman of the Board of Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, stressed that work undertaken on environmental protection and policies related to this issue have gained more importance than ever before in our time.

Publishing a message for World Environment Day on 5 June, Yorgancılar said, "The fertile Anatolian lands make environmental policies crucial for our country as well. To protect these natural riches of our country, which faces a serious problem like drought, environmental education must be instilled in individuals from early childhood. Furthermore, strengthening cooperation between the Government and Civil Society Organizations will also yield major gains in this area. While this is a debt to the homeland earned with the lives of our ancestors, it is also our responsibility toward future generations." Noting that the effects of global climate change, which has become an undeniable fact with concrete evidence provided by scientists, are felt more deeply with each passing year, Yorgancılar said, "Developed countries are trying to abandon environmentally harmful fuel and energy policies and to expand clean energy formulas through international agreements. In this process, renewable energy is gaining importance with each passing day. As the use of fossil fuels is being abandoned, the use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind is becoming widespread."

"We are pioneering efforts"

Noting that global efforts must be made to promote eco-efficiency and clean energy policies, taking into account both the rapidly growing population of the world and global climate change, Yorgancılar stated that he was saddened by the fact that a large country like the USA withdrew from the Paris Agreement, which is the most important international arrangement on this matter, and expressed hope that the decision would be reconsidered. Ender Yorgancılar emphasized that Aegean Region Chamber of Industry attaches great importance to work related to the environment, while expressing the following views: "Our Chamber, which ensures industry is in harmony with clean environment policy and attaches great importance to clean energy, is always committed to raising awareness on the protection of nature. Keeping environmental issues on the agenda continuously, our award program carried out since 2000 with the aim of promoting and rewarding industrial facilities and industrial zones that have the most positive and successful environmental practices is the most concrete example of this. On this occasion, I celebrate World Environment Day with the hope that awareness of environmental protection spreads, the foundations of renewable energy policies are strengthened on a global scale, and we can leave a cleaner world for our children."
