EİB Honors Export Stars

Aegean Exporters Unions rewarded 58 of its members, who contributed USD 5.331 billion to the USD 13 billion in exports achieved in 2020, at the "EİB Stars of Exports Awards Ceremony" which was postponed due to pandemic conditions in the previous year. Turkey Exporters Assembly President İsmail Gülle: "Like in 2020, a year when uncertainties reached their peak, we managed to close with USD 169 billion, exceeding our targets. During the pandemic, we received significant orders from both our traditional and target markets.

USD 5.331 billion in exports realized

As a result of disruptions in global supply chains, we managed to leverage this interest directed towards our country to our advantage. Exporters under the Aegean Exporters Unions umbrella demonstrated significant stability during the pandemic year by maintaining the figures they achieved in the previous year." he said. Aegean Exporters Unions Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi: "Our pioneering companies in their sectors, investing in sustainability; realized USD 5.331 billion of EİB's total USD 13 billion exports in 2020. In sustainability discussions, there is a strong relationship between environment and economic development. The climate crisis; is the multi-faceted, most challenging and deepest reckoning of the 21st century and is pushing us towards new frontiers of ethics." he said. According to the 2022 Climate Change Performance Index, Turkey ranked 42nd as in the previous year and its overall performance remained "low," Eskinazi explained and continued: "The century-old argument develops as follows; human needs and desires are infinite, therefore the process of meeting them should also be infinite. But is "production" done only to meet our own needs really production? If we continue to frame our role within an obsolete status-quo paradigm based on a mechanistic worldview, industrial and capital-centered competitive economy, domination, violence, war, ecological and human irresponsibility; we will witness the fastest rise of increasing climate disasters, species extinction, economic collapse, human injustice and inequality. The most important part of this rise is gaining education and breaking the cycle."

EİB Exports Exceeded USD 16 Billion

Noting that Turkey aims to be among the world's 10 largest economies in 2023, Jak Eskinazi continued: "We viewed the turbulent and uncertain year 2020; as the seed of the new world order." "Increasing its exports over the last 1-year period by 25 percent to USD 16.024 billion, reaching the USD 15 billion export target for the end of 2021 five months ahead of schedule, and catching up with the target it raised to USD 16 billion weeks in advance, with projects and initiatives it undertook in the fields of sustainability and digitalization, achieving world firsts, as the Aegean Exporters Unions, the pioneering exporters union in Turkey, we can say very clearly the following. For the realization of the 2023 target, education, economic freedom and strengthening of intellectual capital is needed as soon as possible."
