Fibrobeton and YGA Collaborate on Science Mobilization Initiative

At the Fibrobeton Düzce Science Mobilization event, young inventors showcased original creations using the Science Kit developed by YGA. Among the children's projects, an 'autonomous vehicle' attracted significant attention. Fibrobeton has implemented numerous corporate social responsibility projects to contribute to societal development. This year, Fibrobeton realized a new project aimed at fostering children's interest in science and technology. Fibrobeton, among the visionary partners of the 'Science Mobilization' project run by Young Guru Academy (YGA)—which aims to nurture dual-winged youth who are both conscientious and equipped—provided science support to 10 separate primary schools in Düzce. In cooperation with YGA, a total of 100 science kits for use by middle school students were sent to 10 separate schools based in Düzce as part of the Science Mobilization project. The science kits, prepared under the mentorship of world-renowned Turkish scientists including Nobel Prize-winning scientist Prof. Aziz Sancar and Harvard and MIT professor Mehmet Toner, provide students with the necessary materials for robotics and coding education included in the school curriculum. The project is being implemented within the scope of a protocol signed by YGA with the Ministry of National Education.

Autonomous vehicle captures attention

Fibrobeton's Düzce Science Mobilization event was held at Şükran - Sedat Şenkardeşler Middle School. The most captivating project developed by children using the science kits at the event was an 'autonomous vehicle'. Students who designed the autonomous car by combining electronic blocks from the Science Kit created technologies that seemed unreachable through devices that simply explained modern-day technologies. Children later raced their autonomous vehicles in groups, experiencing entertaining moments during this part of the event. Through fun experiments, the science kits make learning science easier for children. At the event, Fibrobeton Board Chairman Dündar Yetişener gave a speech. Yetişener expressed great satisfaction that the company's path intersected with YGA, which dedicates all its activities to raising children of high quality. Highlighting that of Turkey's population of 82.3 million according to 2018 figures, 22.9 million are children, Yetişener stated: "According to the United Nations definition, this child population comprising the 0-17 age group represents 28 percent of our total population. In other words, one quarter of our total population consists of children. This means that the quality of education we provide to our children today will shape the world's future for the next 100 years." Dündar Yetişener noted that the Science Mobilization project is invaluable in terms of providing children with digital literacy and coding skills from an early age. Yetişener said: "Today, raising generations that produce technologies beneficial to humanity, grow with science and are equipped with good values will be the guarantee of the world's bright future." Stating that 33 years ago they laid the foundation for a sector that did not exist in Turkey through GRC production rooted in science and technology, and that they have reached the position of a global company pioneering the market with patented products bearing first and revolutionary features in the world, Dündar Yetişener said: "innovation, novelty and invention are in Fibrobeton's DNA." Yetişener continued his remarks by saying: "We value education, believe in innovation and sustainable production. We are fulfilling the requirements of digital transformation. Today we have Turkey's 350th R&D center across all sectors. We are a company that loves producing inventions. We made the concrete that was said to be impossible.

Today we add value to structures with our products on 5 continents and in nearly 30 countries. We will continue our production journey that started in Düzce with the vision of our children growing with science and technology, with many more inventions and value-added production in the future," he continued. Dündar Yetişener stated that they view investments in children as investments in country development. Yetişener said: "In the digital age we live in, there is a vast world waiting to be discovered. We all see to the horizon, but those who change the world are those who wonder and can imagine beyond the horizon." Balaban: "Turkey's brightest youth are bringing cutting-edge technology to the most disadvantaged regions." YGA Science Mobilization Project Leader Cemre Balaban also explained in her remarks that YGA, a non-profit civil society organization established in Turkey, launched the Science Mobilization project as a corporate social responsibility initiative to foster children's interest in science and provide them with a scientific perspective. Balaban said: "YGA raises dual-winged youth that allow us to look to the future with hope. These young people develop both their conscience and equipment wings while producing projects beneficial to humanity." Noting that they have reached science kits to 130 thousand children in 320 schools across Turkey to date, Cemre Balaban said that by the end of the third year, they aim to connect 2 million middle school students with science kits in 5 thousand schools. Expressing their goal to foster independent-thinking, original project-producing, confident individuals by bringing the latest technology to Turkey's most disadvantaged regions, Balaban concluded her remarks by saying: "Within the scope of the protocol signed with the Ministry of National Education, Turkey's brightest youth are bringing cutting-edge technology to the most disadvantaged regions. We send 10 science kits each to schools in need. Teachers at these schools can access training on using the Science Kit in the classroom and experiments and project content tailored to the curriculum through an online platform. Students also participate in the Science Competition held twice yearly across Turkey with projects they prepare using the science kits."
