Young Engineers: Top 20 Selected From 500 Projects
TEKNOFEST KARADENİZ, hosted in Samsun, continues at Samsun-Çarşamba Airport. The festival, where Turkey's finals are held, showcases products from numerous innovators. The unmanned aerial vehicle, underwater unmanned aerial vehicle, rocket, model satellite and smart station produced by youth at the Bahçelievler Innovation Center are also on display at the festival stand. The Bahçelievler Innovation Center youth advanced to the finals by making it into the top 20 in the model satellite category at the festival.
Additionally, the "Metaverse Turkish Mythology Museum" designed and coded within Bahçelievler Mateverse Academy is being showcased at TEKNOFEST KARADENİZ. The Metaverse Museum, developed under the leadership of Aydın University lecturer Özge Ünver and Burak Kaya, is receiving considerable interest from visitors attending the festival.
Gizem Bozkurt from the Bahçelievler Municipality Innovation Center team commented on the training they provided under TEKNOFEST KARADENİZ:
"We came to TEKNOFEST KARADENİZ as Bahçelievler Municipality. We participated here with our Innovation Center. At TEKNOFEST KARADENİZ we are showcasing many of our technological devices. We participated in numerous competitions. Together with our instructors, we provide metaverse training. We created a museum with our mythological characters configured in 3D. We can tour these museums with our VR headsets. With our VR headsets we can provide archery training. This is how we are showcasing our products at the festival. As Bahçelievler Municipality, we are providing various training here such as mobile education centers and metaverse education. These programs we developed together with our instructors are provided with the aim of supporting youth. With the support of our Mayor Doctor Hakan Bahadır, we are continuing our training programs successfully. Our goal is to increase young people's capacity to use and produce technology."Our model satellite made it to the top 20 among 500 projects
Yusuf Emre Sönmezgöz from the Bahçelievler Municipality Innovation Center team explained regarding the model satellite project as follows:
"Our model satellite advanced to the top 20 among 500 projects. We participated in the 7th Model Satellite Competition organized by TÜRKSAT. In this project we manufactured almost everything with our own resources and domestic resources. From its controller to its mechanical system, we produced many components in our own workshop. Six people worked on this team. From 3 different departments in software, mechanical and electronic. Our colleagues dedicated 6-7 months to this. Actually this team has been together for 3 years. In the last 6-7 months they completed their reporting and production. I would like to thank Bahçelievler Municipality Innovation Center for supporting us in this matter. Especially I express my gratitude to our Mayor Dr. Hakan Bahadır for the resources he provided us. We manufactured the outer shell of the model satellite from kevlar with our own resources. We covered it with fiberglass. We produced our project by pouring it into a mold. First we had our mold 3D printed. Then we covered it with kevlar and combined it with certain composite materials and waited for it to cure. Later we covered it with fiberglass and increased its strength. Kevlar is a very strong and expensive material. It is not a material that breaks easily. Among the 20 teams, only we used kevlar in our project."Advertisement
