Düsseldorf - Henkel announced that CEO Kasper Rorsted will leave the company as of 30 April 2016, having decided not to renew his contract after 2017. Rorsted served on Henkel's Management Board for a total of 11 years, including 8 years as CEO. Hans Van Bylen has been appointed to succeed him, taking office on 1 May 2016. Van Bylen's successful career at Henkel began in 1984, and since 2005 he has served as a Management Board member responsible for the Beauty Care business unit. With his appointment to the CEO role in spring, Van Bylen will be responsible for developing the new strategy that Henkel will announce by year-end and for successfully implementing that strategy. Dr. Simone Bagel-Trah, Chair of the Shareholders' Committee and Advisory Board, said: "With Hans Van Bylen's appointment as new CEO, we have demonstrated early succession planning for the Chief Executive position, which is standard practice at Henkel. Hans Van Bylen is an excellent choice given his long-standing international experience in brand and market management, as well as his experience as a Management Board member. On behalf of our management committees and employees, I wish Hans Van Bylen every success in his new role." The successor to Hans Van Bylen's position as Vice Chair of the Beauty Care Executive Board will be announced at a later date. Hans Van Bylen said: "This appointment demonstrates the confidence placed in me, and I am very proud of it. Together with my colleagues on the Management Board and our excellent global team, I look forward to shaping the future of our company. We have strong brands and technologies, leading positions in many markets and categories worldwide, and exceptional strength in innovation. Together, and on this foundation, we will carry Henkel into the future."

Strong company performance under Kasper Rorsted's leadership

In his statement, Dr. Simone Bagel-Trah said: "Kasper Rorsted has achieved major successes for Henkel. Since 2008, under his leadership, the company has delivered strong performance in challenging market environments. Sales and profit margins have increased significantly. Our star brands have become even stronger. This is also reflected in the company's market value, which has increased nearly threefold since Kasper Rorsted took management responsibility. On behalf of all of Henkel's governance committees, employees and shareholders, I would like to sincerely thank Kasper Rorsted." Kasper Rorsted (53) joined Henkel in 2005 as a Management Board member. Appointed Vice Chair of the Management Board in 2007 and becoming CEO following the 2008 Annual General Meeting, Rorsted said: "I would like to thank all my colleagues at Henkel for their commitment and dedication, and our governance committees for their advice and support. Together we have delivered excellent performance for our company. I am fully confident that Henkel will continue to thrive under Hans Van Bylen's leadership as CEO."
