TRBOR Boron Technologies Inc. General Manager Yaşar Taşkın said that the first boron carbide sales would be made in June to two companies operating in Turkey's defence industry. Responding to questions about the production process at the Boron Carbide Production Plant located in Bandırma, Balıkesir, Taşkın stated that there are six different boron carbide products with varying grain sizes. Taşkın noted that two of the products are used in the defence industry for armour plate production, saying "We will sell these only to companies related to Turkey's defence industry." Taşkın said the other four products are used in refractory manufacturing used by steel companies and in the abrasive sector, continuing as follows: "There are potential customers using these in Europe and America. We have contact with them. We are about to receive potential orders." Taşkın stated that the facility was inaugurated on 19 March with an arc furnace, and work on the second, third and fourth arc furnaces is nearing completion. Saying the facility will reach full capacity within April, Taşkın said: "From June onwards, we will have started supplying products primarily to our customers in Turkey. There are two important potential customers currently manufacturing armour plate in Turkey's defence industry. One is in Ankara, the other in Kayseri. These companies are frankly awaiting our production."

The World's Highest Quality Boron in Turkey

Eti Maden General Manager and Board Chairman Serkan Keleşer noted that of the world's 4 billion tonnes of boron reserves, 3.3 billion tonnes are in Turkey, stating: "But our country's boron ore has a difference. Our country has the world's highest quality boron ore. If you have the world's highest quality boron ore, you produce the world's highest quality boric acid, for example. We actually base the entire structure on this. In other words, the quality of our ore is more important than quantity for us and for our statements. That is why we always say in our new statements that Turkey is the country with the highest quality boron. This sets us apart from all other boron ore owners. At the same time, when we add production quality and human quality to this, Eti Maden is the institution producing the world's highest quality boron products." Keleşer said Turkey will complete the value chain in boron ore for the first time this year, while stating: "The classic boron market is approximately 4 million tonnes and USD 2 billion. But the boron carbide market is approximately USD 60 billion. We have the ore, we have boric acid. We will get our share from the market."   Source
