MLP Care and Enerjisa Enerji Join Forces for Solar Power Plant Projects
MLP Care and Enerjisa Enerji join forces on solar power plant projects, with YEO Teknoloji as solution partner.
This pioneering collaboration in the healthcare sector will see solar power plants built at 7 locations across 4 Turkish provinces. Electricity generated at these plants will meet the energy needs of MLP Care hospitals from clean sources, while preventing 73,000 tonnes of annual carbon emissions.
The project encompasses the construction and operation of solar power plants at 7 locations in Çankırı, Yozgat, Sivas and Gaziantep provinces. The plants will have an installed capacity of approximately 75 MWp and will cover more than 90 percent of the energy requirements for MLP Care's 27 Medical Park and Liv Hospital branches operating in Turkey.
Developed under Enerjisa Enerji's İşimin Enerjisi umbrella, this project adds a new dimension to renewable energy applications and represents one of the sector's pioneering sustainability initiatives, given MLP Care's significant capacity in Turkey's healthcare services. YEO Teknoloji will serve as the project's solution partner for site identification, permit procedures, detailed engineering work and plant construction.
Implemented through an Energy Performance Model (ESCO), the project brings together major players in healthcare and energy. These three companies, with sustainability at their core, support Turkey's renewable energy transition and progress toward its carbon-neutral targets through their work.
The solar power plants, based on a performance-driven business model, will generate an average of 112,401 GWh of clean energy annually across the 7 locations, preventing over 73,000 tonnes of annual carbon emissions. Through solar plants at different locations, energy equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 37,468 households will be generated in an environmentally responsible manner to create a better future for all.
Under Enerjisa Enerji's 'İşimin Enerjisi' solutions, all maintenance, repair and operation of the facilities over the 7-year contract period will be handled by Enerjisa Enerji. Power generation at the plants is planned to commence in 2024.
MLP Care Board Chairman Dr. Muharrem Usta commented on the project:
"Sustainability is not just an area of work for us but a way of doing business, given our expertise in this field. We support our goals of healthy growth, a healthy society and a healthy environment through sustainable processes. We are carrying out pioneering work in this area. We are among the first hospital groups included in the BIST Sustainability Index, which comprises companies with top-level corporate sustainability performance. We are also the first healthcare provider to publish a sustainability report. The solar power plant project will be an important step in our sustainability efforts. It will bring us one step closer to our carbon-neutral target. This project is extremely important not only for our company but also for the future of our country and our world. It is our greatest hope that it will serve as an example." Enerjisa Enerji CEO Murat Pınar, noting that they directly contribute to Turkey's renewable energy transformation targets and take pride in being among the companies with the largest share, said: "At Enerjisa, we have internalized the fight against climate change. The energy sector bears direct responsibility for approximately 80 percent of global carbon emissions. As Turkey's largest energy sector player, if we are part of the problem, we must be part of the solution, a principle we embrace in all our operational areas. For Turkey, becoming self-sufficient in energy, which is one of our largest import items, and minimizing its impact on our external debt is a responsibility we feel. In pursuing this goal, we have adopted sustainability targets as our guiding star and are strengthening our investments in renewable energy technologies. As we do today, through valuable partnerships we are creating multiplier effects and we know that partnerships play an important role in energy transition. Among our İşimin Enerjisi projects developed since 2020, we have implemented numerous energy efficiency applications in the healthcare sector. Coming together with MLP Care, an institution that sets direction for the healthcare sector with its domestic and international hospitals, on this solar power plant project to leave a legacy of value for our country and nature, and to put our signature on a project that the healthcare sector will emulate, brings joy to all of us. I extend my thanks to all colleagues who contributed."YEO Teknoloji CEO Tolunay Yıldız stated:
"As YEO enters its twentieth year, we aim to be among the sector's most innovative institutions. We add value to the country's economy by conducting activities in every area of energy, from electricity generation, transmission and distribution to smart and efficient energy use and application. With our 'We Can' slogan, we contribute not only to energy transformation but also to the transformation of the world. YEO has experience in developing and turnkey installation of over 1,000 MW of solar power plant projects. The capacity of YEO's 20 ongoing projects in this field exceeds 200 MW. We are pleased to implement a first in this field with MLP Care's vision and Enerjisa Enerji's ESCO model."Advertisement
