P&G Türkiye Office Receives LEED Gold Certification
P&G Turkey Achieves LEED Gold Certification for Green Building with 40% Energy Consumption Reduction and 30% Carbon Footprint Cut at New Office
Procter and Gamble (P&G), manufacturer of brands such as Gillette, Pantene, Fairy, Prima and Orkid, has obtained the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certificate with its new Turkey office that reflects its sustainability approach.
The internationally recognized certificate evaluates buildings based on numerous different criteria regarding sustainability and identifies the most environmentally friendly and energy-efficient buildings.
Designed with the green building concept and supported by the latest technologies, the new P&G Turkey office provides 40% energy savings while reducing carbon footprint by 30%. Instead of individual desk assignments, the office creates a sustainable, healthy and comfortable work culture in completely open, collaboration-focused spaces tailored to work requirements.
In the office where many details have been considered – from rainwater collection and storage for irrigation purposes to the use of energy-efficient LED lamps and utilization of 90% of sunlight – 30% more fresh air intake is provided compared to similar work environments.
With the "intelligent building management" system, main consumption sources such as lighting, heating and ventilation are closely monitored, while special awareness programs are conducted to help employees support sustainability practices.
P&G has achieved significant sustainability results at its production facilities in Turkey as well. Over the past two years, it has reduced production waste sent to landfill by 88%, energy consumption by 19% and greenhouse gas emissions by 29%. P&G has achieved its global target of "Zero Production Waste to Landfill."
