Attractive Opportunities to Be Offered for Reverse Brain Drain
International Leading Researchers Program aims to reverse brain drain. Support measures for the program have been determined. Researchers receiving an initial allowance of TRY 1,000,000 for their research will be eligible for a monthly scholarship of TRY 24,000.
Additionally, a monthly family allowance of TRY 2,250 will be provided for spouses and children, and travel and health insurance support will be extended to the entire family.
Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced that they have transformed the "Return to Home Research Scholarship Program" operating under TÜBİTAK into the "International Leading Researchers Program", noting that they aim to accelerate reverse brain drain by encouraging qualified researchers, particularly Turkish scientists, to come to Turkey.
Varank stated that in designing this support, they examined 56 different support programs from 10 countries that have succeeded in attracting qualified human resources to their nations. Announcing that the call will be opened on 15 December, Varank informed that support under the program will be provided for 24-36 months.
The allowance, which will be TRY 500,000 for early-career researchers and TRY 1,000,000 for experienced researchers, will be transferred not to the researchers themselves but to the host institution.
Moreover, in addition to initial packages, research support of up to TRY 720,000 can be provided to the host institution. Along with these, a monthly management and administrative costs allowance of TRY 3,750 will also be transferred.
Turkey's leading academic, industrial institutions, organizations or public entities will serve as locations where leading researchers coming to Turkey can conduct their work.
Leading researchers will be able to form teams, with the number of students receiving scholarships for each team limited to 5. Doctoral students in the research team will receive a monthly scholarship of TRY 4,500.
