Türkiye's 300th Organized Industrial Zone to Provide Jobs for 30,000 People

Science, Industry and Technology Minister Faruk Özlü stated that with the completion of establishment procedures for Hatay Hassa Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), the number of OIZs that have acquired legal entity status has reached 300, saying "The industrial facilities to be established in Hatay Hassa OIZ will open employment opportunities for approximately 30,000 people." Özlü made statements regarding the ministry's work directed at OIZs. Explaining that they aim to spread industry in underdeveloped regions and create employment through OIZs, Özlü pointed out that balanced distribution of industrialization would thus also ensure orderly urbanization. Drawing attention to the advantages that OIZs provide to the cities where they are located, Özlü said, "OIZs create conditions for investments to be made in cooperation, for minimum infrastructure requirements such as energy, environment and transportation to be managed from a single source, for production costs to be reduced and for quality standards to be raised." Emphasizing that OIZ applications are an important element of planned development, Özlü said that the zones make great contributions to the industrial development of their respective provinces.

"Hassa OIZ Hatay's Largest"

Noting that with Hatay Hassa OIZ the establishment procedures of which have been completed by the ministry, the number of OIZs that have acquired legal entity status has reached 300, Özlü stated, "Hassa OIZ, with an area of 13,770 square meters, is Hatay's largest, while also ranking among Turkey's 10 largest Organized Industrial Zones." Providing information regarding the partnership structure of Hatay Hassa OIZ, Minister Özlü said, "The zone consists of Hatay Investment Monitoring and Coordination Directorate with 72 percent participation share and 10 members, Hassa Municipality Directorate with 10 percent participation share and 2 members, Antakya Chamber of Commerce and Industry Directorate with 6 percent participation share and 1 member, and Kırıkhan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Directorate with 12 percent participation share and 2 members." Pointing out that industrial facilities to be established in Hatay Hassa OIZ will provide employment opportunities for approximately 30,000 people, Özlü expressed that the OIZ will become a very important investment for the city and region over time. Özlü stated that they will continue OIZ establishment activities at a rapid pace. Noting that in the 300 OIZs established in Turkey to date, production has started in over 50,000 parcels, Özlü conveyed that approximately 1,700,000 people have been employed so far. Minister Özlü informed that they aim to bring empty parcels in OIZs into production in the shortest possible time, thereby expecting the employment created to reach 2,200,000 people.
