Metro Türkiye and Zes have advanced electric vehicle charging infrastructure to a new phase, launching high-speed charging at stores. Under the partnership, existing charging stations are being upgraded with faster and more efficient DC and HPC technologies, with socket capacity increasing from 100 to 152.
A faster and more efficient experience for electric vehicle users
Charging stations at 33 of Metro Türkiye's 35 stores across 20 provinces have been converted to high-speed charging infrastructure. AC charging stations are being replaced with DC and HPC technologies, enabling users to charge their vehicles in shorter timeframes.
This transformation allows electric vehicle users to quickly charge their vehicles while shopping without losing time.
“We are providing infrastructure ready for tomorrow's needs”
Cüneyt Tınaz, Country Manager at Zes, commented on the new phase of the partnership:
“We are taking our strategic partnership with Metro Türkiye to a stronger level. As Zes, we operate in 33 stores across 20 provinces. In this new phase, our focus is to make the existing infrastructure faster and more efficient, delivering a charging experience that saves time for users. Through our investments, we are building a fast and predictable infrastructure ready for tomorrow's needs.”
Tınaz also emphasized that investments in technologies that improve customer experience will continue.
“Sustainability is at the center of our entire value chain”
Erhan Çetin, CFO at Metro Türkiye, commented on the sustainability focus as follows:
“At a time when the effects of the climate crisis are becoming more visible, we see it as our responsibility to be a pioneer of transformation not only in our operations but throughout our entire value chain. We are expanding our partnership with Zes to a new phase.”
Çetin noted that 100 charging stations were previously activated at 32 stores, and in the new phase, with the addition of the Fethiye store, 152 sockets have been reached across 33 stores.
Renewable energy and sustainable mobility focus
The charging service provided at Metro Türkiye stores is supported by YEK-G certified clean energy. Electric vehicle users can charge their vehicles in 30 to 60 minutes during shopping periods.
The company continues to contribute to reducing carbon footprint by supporting sustainable consumption and environmentally friendly solutions.
Charging network expanding across Turkey
Zes, which operates in all 81 provinces, operates one of Turkey's largest electric vehicle charging networks with over 5,000 sockets. The Metro Türkiye partnership strengthens the role of retail locations in the electric mobility ecosystem and contributes to sustainable urban living.
