Merck Turkey continues its efforts in gender equality in line with its employee-focused approach. In this context, ahead of 8 March International Women's Day, it organized an 'Equitable Leadership Workshop' for its employees, emphasizing the importance of inclusive leadership.
While the United Nations' 2025 International Women's Day theme is set as "Inspire Inclusion," Merck Turkey held its first event within this theme with the "Equitable Leadership Workshop."
In the "Equitable Leadership Workshop" organized by Merck Turkey's Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging Group, employees received comprehensive training on the foundations of inclusive leadership, the effects of prejudices and stereotypes on the work environment, preventing discrimination, and the necessity of authentic inclusion. Workshop participants exchanged views on the importance of inclusive leadership and how awareness in this field can be increased.
Merck Turkey General Manager Şehram Zayer, drawing attention to the fact that opportunities born with the future of the business world present great potential in terms of equal rights, stated: "Equal rights in the business world have always been one of the priority topics on our agenda. Women, particularly in leadership positions, are still not sufficiently represented. However, the pharmaceutical sector has made significant progress on this issue and has assumed a pioneering role. As Merck, we continue to take steps through our innovative projects to secure a stronger place for women in our company and in our sector, and to support various initiatives."
Placing diversity, equality and inclusion at the center of its company culture, Merck Turkey won the first prize in the 'Gender Equality' category at the Merck Global Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Awards held at the end of 2024 among the 150 countries where the company operates worldwide.
The company is determined to continue developing new projects in line with its vision of creating an equitable and inclusive work environment and to contribute to the personal and professional development of its employees.
