Interview with Deniz Sülar, Chairman of the Board of KAIROS

We had an enjoyable conversation with KAIROS Board Chairman Deniz Sülar about the company's development process and the products they have provided to the sector.

Mr. Deniz Sülar, could you briefly tell our readers about your education and professional background in the sector?

I completed my university education in Electrical-Electronics Engineering, my first choice of study. After graduation, my first professional career began in 1997. Following my management experience in technical units at leading Turkish paints and chemical companies, I founded KAIROS A.Ş. in 2014 together with my business partner, Chemical Engineer Sertaç Kıter.

Could you outline the development process of KAIROS since its establishment?

KAIROS was established as the first domestic dispensing systems manufacturer and to provide engineering and consulting services to the coatings sector. Over the past approximately four years, it has continued to grow by increasing the diversity of its products and services.   With the dispensing systems we have installed both domestically and internationally, the recognition of our ADA Color brand is increasing, and this is positioning us in a progressively stronger competitive position globally with each passing year. While ADA Color dispensing systems production is KAIROS's primary business activity, we also provide services to the coatings sector in new facility establishment, process development and automation. We particularly apply our experience in Ex-Proof systems to our products and services.

Could you provide information about your product groups and the sectors you serve?

At the focus of our company's operations are solvent-based and water-based automatic dispensing systems for inks and paints produced under the ADA Color brand. Dispensing systems are used especially for the automatic and precise dosing of color pastes, binders and other components according to formulations stored in a database on the system for custom and intermediate color products. Automatic execution of the process prevents operator-related errors and guarantees continuity of product quality. Additionally, all production data being recorded in the system along with actual quantities provides traceability. The use of components in a closed system prevents evaporation, drying or crusting problems. The ability to produce the desired product instantly and only in the desired quantity on the system reduces stock levels. ADA Color dispensing systems can use between 12 and 60 components fed from drums, IBCs or tanks according to customer needs. With a two-stage valve system, filling can be performed with 1g precision. Automatic circulation and automatic valve cleaning system ensure accurate and optimal filling. Windows-based and user-friendly Turkish software possesses features to meet all user requirements. Additionally, ADA Color dispensing systems also have a manual control backup system. This allows the system to be operated manually in case of any PC failure. Another product group we have begun producing based on requests from our customers is ADA Fill filling systems. We manufacture single or multi-head semi-automatic Ex-Proof filling systems designed for filling buckets up to 30 liters and drums up to 200 liters. With ADA Mix pneumatic mixers that we produce in different sizes and capacities for mixing products in buckets, drums and IBCs, we are also able to meet our customers' Ex-Proof mixer requirements.

Do you provide pre-sales and after-sales support activities for customer satisfaction? What are the quality principles you apply for product reliability and company continuity?

Ensuring customer satisfaction in all products and services we provide as KAIROS is our main goal. By sharing all our knowledge and experience with our customers, we serve as a solution partner to our customers rather than merely a supplier. We want to ensure customer satisfaction and strengthen our brand image by using the most reliable and quality components in our products and prioritizing durability and ease of use in our design criteria. To achieve sustainable growth, while increasing our sales, we are also developing our technical support, service and R&D activities.

Could you provide information about your targets and projects?

Our main objective is to develop the market we started with Turkey and neighboring countries and bring the ADA Color brand to a globally competitive position. To maintain customer satisfaction and brand image at the highest level and to remain competitive, we place importance on R&D activities. With our TUBITAK project that we plan to implement during 2018 regarding our ADA Color dispensing systems, we will take a major step in developing our products and becoming more competitive.

What are your thoughts and expectations regarding the paintistanbul & Turkcoat 2018 Fair? Could you tell us about the products you will exhibit at the fair?

We regard the paintistanbul&Turkcoat fair as a successful organization that brings together many companies in the sector. We also believe that its biennial organization increases the level of interest and expectations for the fair. As KAIROS, at the fair this year, we want to exhibit a working dispensing system at our booth along with our ADA Fill filling system and ADA Mix pneumatic mixing systems to our customers.

What are your thoughts on the Turkish paints sector?

The paints sector in Turkey has risen above world average per capita consumption in recent years in parallel with economic growth. Directing this growth to domestic sources in both raw materials and machinery-equipment procurement would have more positive effects on our economy.
