İZODER Calls for Insulation Installation İZODER is calling on those who do not want to spend winter in worry to invest in insulation, which is both economically and environmentally sound. As summer days pass, it is important not to forget that winter waits at the door. Installing insulation before natural gas bills burn a hole in pockets is of great importance. Given weather conditions, those who invest in insulation during these optimal days are making a profitable choice. While heating and cooling costs of insulated buildings are cut in half, their lifespan is extended. Insulation, which also prevents mold, dampness, fungus and bad odors caused by moisture, provides healthy and comfortable living spaces. Emrullah Eruslu, Chairman of the Board of Management of İZODER-Heat Water Sound and Fire Insulation Contractors Association, noting that insulation—one of the most important conditions for living in energy-efficient, safe, healthy and comfortable buildings—contributes to both the national economy and citizens' budgets when performed with the correct materials and proper application, said the following: "As winter approaches, citizens who do not want to pay high natural gas bills are turning to insulation. We are at a seasonally opportune time for insulation, but there are many insulation materials on the market. Consumers must check for the CE mark on the labels of insulation materials when choosing among these products. Like in every sector in our country, unfair competition conditions exist in the insulation sector as well. Substandard but cheap products produced under the counter are misleading consumers and preventing them from benefiting from the insulation applications they have undertaken. With the correct material, correct thickness and correct application, insulation surrounding the building reduces the energy spent on heating during winter months and lightens bills." Insulation Investment Pays for Itself

Saying that insulation thickness is of great importance to achieve higher performance from insulation, İZODER Chairman Emrullah Eruslu stated, "Today, the cost of thermal insulation applications in a newly constructed building accounts for 2 to 3 percent of total building costs. Thanks to savings achieved from bills, this amount pays for itself within 2 to 5 years. In general applications, aside from the cost of insulation material, regardless of insulation thickness, costs arise from scaffolding setup, infrastructure costs such as electricity and water, auxiliary material costs such as adhesive, plaster, anchors and mesh, complementary material costs such as paint and exterior cladding, and labor costs. Among all these costs, the additional cost resulting from increasing the thickness of the insulation material varies from application to application but is quite low. In other words, once you have set up scaffolding, brought workers up to the scaffold, and purchased materials such as adhesive, plaster and paint, you should use the energy-efficiency insulation boards as thick as possible. Now we need to apply 6-8 cm insulation thickness in hot climate regions like Antalya and Izmir, 9-10 cm in temperate climate regions like Istanbul, 10-12 cm in cold places like Ankara, and 14-15 cm in very cold places like Erzurum. The same applies to windows. Instead of uncoated conventional glass, we should use insulated glass with thermal and/or solar control coatings. At this point, we recommend all citizens exceed regulatory limits and apply thicker insulation."
Favorable Credit Options for Those Seeking Insulation
Emrullah Eruslu noted that the launch of the "Insulation Credit" program, which İZODER has worked on with relevant institutions for many years to ease the financial burden on citizens seeking insulation, began implementation in mid-last year and is an important step. He continued his remarks as follows: "On 6 June 2022, under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, with İZODER's support, the Insulation Credit—up to TRY 50,000 per unit with a 60-month term and 0.99 percent interest rate—began to be provided by Ziraat Bank, Vakıfbank, Halkbank and Ziraat Katılım banks. The Eco Credit, which we launched in cooperation with Şekerbank, became an important financing solution for insulation applications. There are many people who understand the importance of thermal insulation but cannot afford to install it for economic reasons. Those who worry about credit payments should not forget that electricity and natural gas bills will be cut in half, and they can pay their credits without difficulty with the savings they achieve. Citizens wishing to benefit from the Insulation Credit can visit İZODER's website to learn more details about the credit."
