Environmental Cleanup on Şile Shores by Nestlé Türkiye and ÇEVKO Foundation

Nestlé Türkiye organized a coastal cleanup event as part of the "120 Thousand Good Deeds Movement," launched to mark its 120th anniversary, in cooperation with the ÇEVKO Foundation and with the support of Şile Municipality. More than 360 volunteers collected 720 kilograms of waste along the Şile coastline during the event.
Nestlé Türkiye continues its field efforts aimed at protecting the environment in line with its sustainability approach. The coastal cleanup event, carried out within the scope of the "120 Thousand Good Deeds Movement" launched as part of the company's 120th anniversary, was held in Şile, İstanbul, in cooperation with the ÇEVKO Foundation and with the support of Şile Municipality.
More than 360 volunteers, together with their families and children, participated in the effort, which stands as the largest plogging event Nestlé Türkiye has ever carried out. During the cleanup work conducted along a designated route on the Şile coastline, 720 kilograms of waste were collected. The collected waste was sorted by type and directed to recycling processes.
In addition to raising awareness about the separate collection of waste at its source and the importance of recycling, the event also contributed to instilling environmental awareness in children and young people. The participation of families together with their children in the event served as a significant example of strengthening intergenerational awareness on sustainability.
"Lasting change is possible through strong collaborations and long-term steps"
Nestlé Türkiye Marketing, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director Başak Ünal drew attention to the importance of translating sustainability goals into concrete field work, stating the following:
"As Nestlé Türkiye, we regard protecting the environment we live in and natural resources as one of our fundamental responsibilities. The 120 Thousand Good Deeds Movement, which we launched this year, is a strong reflection of this approach. From the environment to education, from access to food to healthy living, we aim to create lasting impact in different areas through long-term collaborations. We believe that social and environmental benefit grows through strong partnerships.
This work, which we carried out in cooperation with the ÇEVKO Foundation and which is our largest plogging event to date, was one of the meaningful examples of this approach. With the participation of more than 360 of our volunteers along with their families and children, we contributed to the cleaning of the Şile shores. It is especially valuable for us that children were also part of this good deeds movement and that we jointly contributed to passing on environmental awareness to future generations."
"We can share our responsibilities for a sustainable world"
ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General Mete İmer, referring to the importance of the event in terms of spreading environmental sustainability and recycling awareness, made the following assessment:
"Environmental, economic and social sustainability refers to a shared area of responsibility that encompasses individuals, non-governmental organizations, companies, local administrations and public authorities. Recycling is one of the most important components of this cycle. The first step of this is the separate collection of waste at its source.
Simple behaviors that we carry out in our homes, on our streets and in every aspect of our daily lives can create great value. In this regard, instilling environmental awareness and recycling consciousness in individuals, and especially in children, continues to be among our foundation's core priorities.
We are pleased to cooperate with Nestlé Türkiye, which, with its 120-year history, has been part of the lives of millions of people both in our country and around the world. This event, carried out with the contribution of Şile Municipality and the efforts of more than 360 volunteers, was a meaningful demonstration that we can jointly take on our responsibilities for a sustainable world."
Nestlé Türkiye aims to continue its work within the scope of the "120 Thousand Good Deeds Movement" to create social and environmental benefit in different areas such as the environment, education, access to food and healthy living.
