Trade Delegation to Panama from the Cosmetics Sector

İKMİB organized the Cosmeet Latam Sectoral Trade Mission targeting the cosmetics and cleaning products sector. Within the scope of the mission, over 650 bilateral business meetings were conducted with the participation of 95 Turkish and foreign companies.

İKMİB, which carries out numerous activities to contribute to the chemical sector's exports, organized the Cosmeet Latam Sectoral Trade Mission for the cosmetics and cleaning products sector between 1-7 September 2024. Twenty-five companies from the cosmetics and cleaning products sector participated in the Sectoral Trade Mission held in Panama.

Within the scope of the event, 658 bilateral business meetings were conducted with a total of 70 purchasing companies from 14 countries, including neighboring countries such as Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Nicaragua and Peru, in addition to Panama.

The delegation, accompanied by İKMİB Board Member Uğur Adıyaman, visited the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Panama Lebibe Gülhan Ulutekin and the Commercial Counselor of the Republic of Turkey to Panama Halise Büşra Ünsal Hür, who provided briefing presentations to participants. Within the scope of the mission, market research was conducted and major chain stores in Panama were visited.

Adil Pelister: "The cosmetics and cleaning products sector accounts for one-quarter of total chemical exports to Panama" 

Stating that Panama is an important market for the cosmetics and cleaning products sector's exports to the Central and South American region, İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister said, "While we are conducting the third mission of this year for the cosmetics and cleaning products sector, we completed the fourth mission of the Cosmeet series in the past year. After African and Asian countries, we conducted the Cosmeet Sectoral Trade Mission to Panama last year, and this year we conducted the fourth one again to Panama on 1-7 September 2024. Panama ranks among the top destinations for the sector's exports to the Central and South American region. Exports to Panama of our essential oils, cosmetics and soap product group reached 2.7 million dollars in the first seven months of this year. Exports to Panama of our detergent preparations product group amounted to 726 thousand dollars during the said period. Our total chemical exports to Panama in the first seven months reached around 12 million dollars. Looking at the figures, we see that our cosmetics and cleaning products sector accounts for one-quarter of total chemical exports to this country. Furthermore, bilateral meetings with purchasing companies from neighboring countries will contribute to increasing Turkish companies' market share in the region.
