We had an enjoyable conversation with H. Hüseyin Pekeş, General Manager of İldam Cam. Pekeş shared his company's success story with us.
Could you briefly tell our readers about yourself, your education and professional background?
I was born in Ankara in 1960. I started working in this sector in 1973 at İldam Cam A.Ş. I began as an apprentice at our company and grew through the ranks, working for 12 years as a worker, then as a foreman and manager. Since 2013, I have been serving as General Manager at İldam Cam A.Ş., and I have been practicing my profession for 43 years.Could you tell us about the development process of İldam since its establishment? Could you share information about your company's mission, vision and quality policy?
The foundation of İldam Cam A.Ş. was laid in 1937 through the basic training provided by German Franz Witting at Istanbul University to Ali İhsan İldam, and it continues to operate with over 75 years of experience. From its first years of production to today, it continues production with the same determination and success. Since our establishment, we have aimed at continuous growth without compromising on quality and customer satisfaction. So far, we have succeeded in becoming a sought-after company in the manufacturing of laboratory glassware. In particular, to control the accuracy of our volumetric glassware products, we added two TÜRKAK-approved calibration laboratories to our company in 2009. In these laboratories, we provide group certificates for our own products, while also offering calibration certification services for external products in accordance with the 17025 standard. What are your products and product groups? Which sectors do your products serve?
Regarding our products, İldam started its production life with the manufacturing of laboratory glassware. General laboratory materials include beakers, Erlenmeyer flasks, funnels and round-bottom flasks. In addition to volumetric laboratory materials, we have round-bottom flasks with stopcock, burettes, graduated cylinders, pycnometers and pipettes. Laboratory glass equipment and spare parts include volatile oil determination apparatus, CO2 gas purity equipment and Karl Fischer apparatus. In subsequent years, to meet other sector needs, the company began chemical sales, and from 2012 onwards, it started providing services in the field of general laboratory equipment. Various types of incubators, biosafety cabinets, oil baths, balances, vacuum pumps, etc. Additionally, one of İldam's most important product lines is undoubtedly our reactor production. Our jacketed, non-jacketed and valved glass reactors as well as our high-pressure-resistant steel reactors are particularly preferred by major industrial facilities. Can you provide information about your 2017 targets and projects?
Our greatest goal as a company is never to compromise on quality. Because at İldam, quality comes before everything else, which is already the core philosophy of İldam. As İldam Cam A.Ş., we aim for continuous growth, meeting sector needs and developing systems to address those needs. Among our 2017 targets are primarily increasing the variety of General Laboratory Equipment in our inventory and successfully opening our laboratory equipment manufacturing facility with expert personnel. On the other hand, we aim to organize training programs on the TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard and provide this service to laboratories working in accordance with this standard. Additionally, by organizing comparison programs between volume calibration laboratories, we aim to enable laboratories to continuously monitor themselves. Finally, I should add that expanding our export area from 6-7 countries to more is also among our most important targets.Gallery
