SOCAR MARINE Enters Domestic Marine Fuel Market SOCAR MARINE, a subsidiary of SOCAR Turkey—one of Turkey's largest direct foreign investors—has expanded its operations to include the domestic marine fuel market and has begun sales in the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions. Operating continuously since 2013 and reaching annual volumes of 700,000 tonnes, the company will rapidly respond to the needs of a broad customer base ranging from passenger and cargo vessels to tourism boats, fishermen and public institutions.

Anar Mammadov Outlines Strategy

Anar Mammadov, Head of SOCAR Turkey Petrochemicals and Refining Business Unit and General Director of Petkim, stated: "Our company, established in the international marine fuel market through physical supplies at Turkish ports, aims to extend the superior service approach it has achieved in all international ports—from Gibraltar to Singapore, Rotterdam to South Africa—across the domestic market at all ports from Hopa to İskenderun. As of 2021, the company has made investments in this area and began marine fuel sales first in Marmara and the Aegean, then in the Mediterranean. Starting supply operations in Thrace and Western Black Sea as of January, SOCAR MARINE aims to provide comprehensive service to customers by land and sea transport and differentiate itself in the domestic market through competitive practices." he said. According to the information provided, the company supplies the domestic market—which reaches approximately 450,000 tonnes annually—with both marine and land tankers to a broad customer portfolio ranging from small fishing vessels to oil tankers. Expanding its operations, the company has also begun marine fuel supply to public institutions. As of January 2022, two major public entities have their fuel supplies provided by SOCAR MARINE.

SOCAR's 2022 Objectives

In 2022, the company is increasing infrastructure and human resources investments with the goal of rapidly achieving in the domestic market the strong and successful position it has captured in the international marine fuel market, while continuing to provide customers with distinctive service, commercial terms and quality that the sector requires without interruption.
