Eti Bakır Earns CE Certification

Eti Bakır Samsun Smelting and Electrolysis Plant has earned the right to obtain CE certification by meeting the necessary qualifications for ensuring EU standards in ammonium sulfate fertilizer production. Eti Bakır has become the first ammonium sulfate producer in Turkey to hold this certification. Ammonium sulfate fertilizer, which increases productivity in agricultural activities, makes soil fertile for soil preparation, plant and tree cultivation through its nitrogen and sulfur content. Eti Bakır Samsun Smelting and Electrolysis Plant, which has the capacity to meet more than 50% of Turkey's annual 1 million ton ammonium sulfate fertilizer demand on its own, has documented ammonium sulfate production's compliance with EU standards through CE certification. At the Fertilizer European Union Regulation and CE Certification Seminar held at Ankara Chamber of Commerce, the CE certificate was received on behalf of Eti Bakır Samsun Operations by Chief Engineer Bilal Osman Turan and Laboratory Engineer Ayhan Hacıismailoğlu of the Ammonium Sulfate Unit. The CE Certificate (Conformité Européenne), which ranks among the most important conditions for selling products in European Union member states, proves that products do not pose a hazard to animal and plant health and cause no environmental damage when used for their intended purpose. The CE certificate also serves as a passport for products manufactured outside the EU.

Eti Bakır Deputy General Manager Asım Akbaş made the following statements on the matter:

"At our Samsun facility, Turkey's only smelting plant, we produce ammonium sulfate fertilizer from sulfuric acid generated as a byproduct in copper production. Our annual production capacity of 665,000 tons meets more than half of Turkey's ammonium sulfate requirement. The inclusion of our product within the CE scope as a result of technical evaluation and analysis conducted by authorized accredited laboratories represents, in a sense, a guarantee declaration on our part as a producer. In addition to using resources efficiently and with maximum yield objectives, we place importance on ensuring production takes place under safe conditions and in compliance with international standards."
