Sabancı Renewables and Meta Sign 220 MW Solar Energy Agreement in the US

Sabancı Renewables, a subsidiary of Sabancı Holding, has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with technology company Meta for two solar power plants being developed in Texas, USA. Under the agreement, Meta will purchase the environmental attributes of the Lucky 7 and Pepper solar energy projects, which have a combined installed capacity of 220 MWac.

Sabancı Renewables continues to expand its renewable energy investments in the United States. Under the long-term agreement signed with Meta, the company will supply all environmental attributes of the Lucky 7 Solar Energy Plant with a capacity of 100 MWac and the Pepper Solar Energy Plant with a capacity of 120 MWac, both being developed in Texas, to Meta.

The projects, with a total installed capacity of 220 MWac (286 MWdc), are scheduled to be commissioned in the second half of 2027.

Contributing to Texas Energy Infrastructure
The Lucky 7 and Pepper projects, which form an important part of Sabancı Renewables' growing utility-scale renewable energy portfolio, are expected to provide employment for more than 600 people during the construction phase. The projects are also expected to generate long-term employment during the operational period.

The investments are also projected to generate over USD 30 million in property tax revenue to local governments over the project lifetime and support regional economic development. The plants, which will add new renewable energy capacity to the ERCOT electricity market, are aimed at contributing to meeting Texas' growing energy demand and strengthening grid reliability.

Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, Head of Strategic Investments and Operations at Sabancı Holding and CEO of Sabancı Renewables, stated that the agreement represents an important turning point for the company and demonstrated the scale of its operations in the US market and the competitive strength of its developed projects.

Doğancıoğlu emphasized that long-term partnerships are an important part of Sabancı Renewables' strategy of creating sustainable value with corporate energy buyers.

Amanda Yang, Meta's Clean and Renewable Energy Lead, noted that the Lucky 7 and Pepper projects will add new solar energy capacity to the Texas electricity grid, and stated that the collaboration with Sabancı Renewables will contribute to the development of new resources supporting energy transition.

Data Centers and Artificial Intelligence Drive Energy Demand
The agreement particularly highlights the importance of renewable energy sources in meeting the rapidly growing energy needs of artificial intelligence applications and data centers. Long-term energy security and sustainable electricity supply are increasingly becoming priorities in technology companies' energy strategies.

Sabancı Renewables' US Portfolio Expanding
Sabancı Renewables is focused on developing, constructing and operating utility-scale renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 790 MWdc in the USA. In addition to two solar power plants currently operating in Texas, the company is also constructing the Lucky 7 and Pepper projects.

Operating under the Sabancı Climate Technologies umbrella, the company aims to expand its renewable energy portfolio to several gigawatts in the coming period.
