EİB Exported USD 1.419 Billion in February

Aegean Export Associations exported USD 1.419 billion in February. EİB, which achieved USD 1.572 billion in exports in February 2024, saw exports decline by 10% in February 2025.

Turkey's total exports in February reached USD 20.8 billion
Industrial sectors contributed USD 735 million to EİB's exports, while the agricultural sectors' February export performance reached USD 580 million. The mining sector increased its February exports by 11%, from USD 93.5 million to USD 103.6 million.

Of the 12 export associations within EİB, 3 achieved export growth in February, while 9 export associations fell below their February 2024 export levels. In February, 5 associations within EİB surpassed the USD 100 million threshold in exports.

Ferrous metals lead, cereals record export growth
Aegean Iron and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association maintained its leading position with USD 170 million in exports, while Aegean Cereals Legumes Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association increased its February exports by 20%, bringing USD 113 million in foreign currency to Turkey, and became not only the third-largest exporting association within EİB but also the record holder for export growth.

Aegean Aquatic Products and Animal Products Exporters Association, impacted by the funds introduced for egg exports, managed to maintain its second-place ranking with USD 132 million in exports in February.

Aegean Mining Exporters Association continues to add achievements every month. With USD 103.6 million in exports in February, EMİB rose to fourth place among the 12 associations on an annual basis with USD 1.329 billion in exports.

Aegean Ready-Made Garments and Apparel Exporters Association experienced a 10% decline in exports in February, with export volume recorded at USD 101 million.

Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association's February exports reached USD 88.4 million, while Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters Association brought USD 84.4 million in foreign currency to Turkey.

In February, Aegean Furniture Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association achieved USD 66 million in export performance, while Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association registered USD 65.6 million in exports.

Aegean Textiles and Raw Materials Exporters Association increased its exports by 5%, from USD 44 million to USD 46.5 million, while Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association remained at USD 25.6 million in exports, falling far short of its February 2024 performance of USD 62.3 million.

In February, Aegean Leather and Leather Products Exporters Association recorded USD 15.891 billion in exports.

Among sectors not represented within Aegean Export Associations, the chemical sector increased its exports by 8%, from USD 126 million to USD 136 million, and maintained its leadership among sectors without an association under the EİB umbrella.

The automotive industry sector exported USD 69.4 million, the air-conditioning sector USD 65.8 million, the electrical-electronics sector USD 56.9 million, the machinery sector USD 43.3 million, the cement ceramics and clay products sector USD 15.3 million, and the defense industry sector USD 6.4 million.

Aegean Region exported USD 2.389 billion
The Aegean Region's exports reached USD 2.413 billion in February. The Aegean Region, which exported USD 2.609 billion in February 2024, saw exports decline by 7.5%.

Izmir maintained its dominance in Aegean Region exports with USD 1.318 billion, while two free zones established in Izmir contributed USD 267 million to Izmir's exports.

Manisa maintained its second position in the Aegean Region with USD 413.7 million in exports, while Denizli achieved USD 340 million in exports.

Muğla, which leads Turkey in the aquatic products sector, exported USD 86.3 million, while Balıkesir registered USD 85 million in exports. Aydın recorded USD 79 million in exports, Afyon USD 35 million, Kütahya USD 31.7 million, and Uşak USD 23 million.

Eskinazi: "Export-supporting policies must be implemented to reach 2025 targets"
Emphasizing that Turkey's export performance continues to fluctuate under the influence of global economic conditions and regional dynamics, Aegean Export Associations Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi noted that despite exporters working with great dedication, it is impossible to ignore the difficulties in reaching the set targets when examining February's export figures. Eskinazi stated that as exporters in Izmir and the Aegean Region, they continue to make contributions within their means under current conditions.

"To advance in line with the country's USD 280 billion export target for 2025, the implementation of various incentive mechanisms and supporting policies is of critical importance," said Eskinazi, adding: "If conditions develop in favor of exporters, it may be possible to reach the target, but as long as current conditions persist, reaching the targets appears difficult. In the coming period, to achieve the targets, it is crucial to closely monitor global economic conditions and our country's internal dynamics and take steps to increase exports promptly."
