Abdi İbrahim Otsuka employees, together with students and staff from Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine Psychiatry Day Hospital, formed a 30-person team that participated in the 14th Runatolia Marathon held in Antalya on 1 March, Sunday, in the 10-kilometre category with the slogan "No to Stigma, Running for Schizophrenia" to raise awareness about schizophrenia.
Held every March, Runatolia is one of Turkey's largest marathons, attracting both professional runners and amateur athletes. The 2020 Runatolia Marathon this year hosted approximately 10,000 runners and around 4,000 participants in the community race held on Saturday.
Conducting effective awareness activities that contribute to public health
While providing solutions with its products to improve patients' lives, Abdi İbrahim Otsuka carries out effective social responsibility projects to create awareness and sensitivity in society regarding schizophrenia. The company implements impactful social responsibility projects to build consciousness and sensitivity in the community on schizophrenia awareness. Abdi İbrahim Otsuka employees, who participate on a voluntary basis in social responsibility projects and have signed on to strong initiatives since the company's founding, are implementing activities that will draw attention to the negative effects on recovery of problems patients experience in society. This year, Abdi İbrahim Otsuka added a new dimension to its public awareness efforts by preparing Turkey's first research on Schizophrenia Perception, Knowledge Level, and Stigma and Discrimination Related to Schizophrenia in Turkey. The research, implemented together with Schizophrenia Associations Federation, contains striking findings regarding the dimensions of stigma in our country. Breaking down prejudices in society and increasing knowledge levels about the disease are of critical importance for those struggling with this condition and their families. The Abdi İbrahim Otsuka team aimed to draw the public's attention to stigma once again by participating in Runatolia. The "Let's Not Overlook It - Schizophrenia Journey from Prehistory to Today" exhibition, which holds an important place among Abdi İbrahim Otsuka's social responsibility activities and has been ongoing for 5 years, was exhibited at Sabiha Gökçen Airport this year. The exhibition has reached more than 2 million people to date.Advertisement
