Sara Baras to Perform at Zorlu PSM on 7 May

Star of Flamenco: Renowned Spanish flamenco dancer Sara Baras will perform at Zorlu PSM in Istanbul on 7 May as part of the Good Music in Town events, in collaboration with IEG Live and Piu Entertainment.

Sara Baras, ranked among the world's top 50 female dancers, is set to captivate audiences at Zorlu PSM on the evening of 7 May with a spectacular dance performance. She will be accompanied by a large group of dancers and an orchestra. World's Best Female Flamenco Dancer: Sara Baras began dance training at her mother's dance school at age 8 and gained recognition starting in 1989 when she performed with guitarist Manuel Morao. She won the Madroño Flamenco de Montellano award in 1993 and the "Best Female Spanish Dance Performance" award in 1999 and 2001. Sara Baras performed in Merche Esmeralda's Mujeres production, worked with Antonio Canales in Gitano, and with El Güito at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris. The renowned star danced with Manuel Morao at the 1992 Seville Expo and later in New York, then continued her career as a solo dancer. After establishing her own company, Sara Baras closed the Festival Nacional de Cante de las Minas and appeared in Miki Figis' "Flamenco Women", Javier Balaguer's "Escuela de Seduccion", Carlos Saura's "Iberie" and "Flamenko Flamenko" films, and Luis Danes' "El Sueno de Eleanor" films. She also gained widespread acclaim for her dance scenes in Mission: Impossible 2. In Spain, she has been honored with awards including the National Dance Award and Gold Medal of the Arts, as well as the Giraldillo De Oro Award in the "Best Artistic Direction of Carmen" category at the 2009 Flamenco Biennial. She also received the Flamenco Hoy Award in the Best Flamenco Dancer of the Year category and the Gold Medal of Andalucia. Among the international awards this master artist has won is the Medaille de Vermeil de la Ville de Paris.
