"Time for Salt" at Pilevneli Gallery
Pilevneli Mecidiyeköy is hosting "Salt Time," a new exhibition featuring recent works by Erdoğan Zümrütoğlu, from 10 September to 27 October 2019. The exhibition brings together the artist's recent works for audiences, and also features a special clay installation that documents Zümrütoğlu's sculptural perspective.
"We can see that Erdoğan Zümrütoğlu's paintings have an effect that immediately draws the viewer emotionally toward them.
The beings, figures and portraits he has designed move freely on canvas and fully reflect the energy conveyed by the painter.
With his interest in philosophy, his love of music and poetry, Zümrütoğlu creates a vast pool of inspiration that shapes his new paintings.
Yet it should not be forgotten that another important thing nourishing this pool of inspiration is his psychological and emotional state.
When examining the artist's portraits, which dissolve in the dynamics of color through rapid brushstrokes, you get the impression that he does not want to share his work in every detail with others, as if trying to protect it from a harsh reality.
This approach by Zümrütoğlu recalls Giacometti, who treats the painting as an ever-continuing design and does not give creativity a real chance at completion.
Rather than getting lost among the many narrow-minded concepts, the artist freely reflects his vision on wide areas of canvas."
